Martin Epeldi Obituary

Boise - On October 2, 2025 we lost Marty Epeldi, a dear family member and friend. He will be missed by all of us whose lives he touched and remembered for his kindness, generosity and love. We will all remember his great sense of humor and boisterous laugh that would light up a room and make everybody smile. Marty passed suddenly from his battle with cancer, while on vacation in Las Vegas, where he was excited to watch his beloved Chicago Bears play live.

Marty was born at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise on November 9, 1952. He attended St. Joseph's Elementary School, East Junior High and Boise High, where he played on the football team. He attended the University of Idaho and later received a Bachelor's degree in Communications from Boise State University. Marty worked many jobs after school, but eventually settled into a long career with the United States Postal Service, from which he retired in 2018.

Marty loved the great outdoors especially if it involved fishing. In his younger years he went on countless cross country skiing, backpacking and even some mountain climbing adventures often with his brother, Sandy and sister, Anita. He had many adventures with friends too like hiking up Half Dome in Yosemite National Park with his friend, Ken. However, it was the fishing that he avidly pursued throughout his entire life.

A dedicated family man, Marty raised four daughters. They were his biggest priority and the joy of his life. He shared his love for the outdoors with them and supported them in their interests and pursuits, going to countless basketball games, dance competitions and many other activities. On October 22, 2011 he married is soul mate, Jennifer Merrell. Marty and Jennifer spent over fifteen happy years together sharing all of life's ups and downs.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Maxine and Martin Epeldi and son-in-law Todd Swopes. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer of Boise, sister Anita (John) Peterson of Emmett, brother, Sandy Epeldi of Boise, daughters Holly (Randy) Trudell of Nampa, Heather Epeldi of Boise, Cassie Epeldi of Nez Perce and Madison Britton of Boise. Other family members are nephews Eagan Epeldi, Oly (Laura) Peterson and family, Penn (Anna) Peterson and family, Stu (Liz) Peterson and family and his grandchildren, Kristen and Travis Swopes and Kaden Giles along with our dear Epeldi cousins. Also in laws Connie and Dale Merrell of Boise and their extended family.

Please join us for a celebration of Mart's life which will be held November 8, 2025 from 4:00- 6:00 p.m. at the Idaho Outdoor Association Hall (3401 S. Brazil St., Boise) to share our cherished memories of him.
