OnaBeth Squibb

1925 - 2024

Star, Idaho - OnaBeth Squibb was born on September 24, 1925, in Nelson, Nebraska, the second of three children of Wm. and Vhelmae Troudt. She passed-on peacefully on November 8, 2024, at her home in Star, Idaho, attended by family members.

OnaBeth's long, full, and vibrant life was about faith, family, friends, and "keeping busy". Whether it be working (she was her father's helper on the Nebraska farm, a one-room school teacher, a homemaker, a motel owner/builder/manager, a real estate agent), or participating in or watching all types of sports (swimming, water skiing, snow skiing, snowmobiling, initially watching her boys play football, basketball, and baseball and eventually watching anyone playing those sports), sewing, fishing, growing and tending her flowers, or later in life painting over 150 beautiful paint-by-number paintings, OnaBeth was indeed an active woman.

She drove across country from Nebraska to Idaho in a model-T car in her early twenties with her younger brother Ray. Somewhat later, she married her late husband, Jack Sigman, lived in Idaho, and had her three children-Vickie Sigman, Clint Sigman, and Kim Sigman-all currently living in Idaho. During this time, she taught at Valley View School in Boise. She was the only woman who coached an underdog team winning the baseball championship in a Boise summer program. OnaBeth was an active member of the Community Christian Center in Garden City, Idaho, her children growing-up in that beloved church. She married her late second husband, Jack Erskine. They spent wonderful years working together, camping, remodeling houses (before it was a thing), and traveling to Guatemala, Hawaii, Alaska, and the Holy Land. She met her late husband, Dean Squibb, at a Senior's Dance. They continued dancing together for many years. She loved listening to him play the guitar with his musical group of friends. They made many memories and fine friends through those musical sessions. Around this time, OnaBeth taught senior water aerobics for about 30 years, at the YMCA where she met and made many close friends. During this period of her life, she became a member of LifeSpring Christian Church.

OnaBeth was a true and faithful servant of the Lord Jesus. Her faith, warm love, positive spirit, and sense of humor have had important impacts on family and friends. She is survived by her brother Ray Troudt, Priest Lake, Idaho, her daughter Vickie and her sons Clint (Teri) and Kim as well as six grandchildren-Ryan, Nathaniel, Dawson, Kavin, Cameron, and Jaclyn-twelve great grandchildren, numerous step children, nieces Karon and BJ (David), nephew Rod (Connie) and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother Wesley Troudt, her son-in-law Michael Randal (Vickie), and her niece and her husband, Cindy and Butch.

Her Celebration of Life Service will be December 3, 2024, at 11 am followed by lunch, at LifeSpring Christian Church, 174 N. Star Road, Star, ID.
