Patricia Hunt Obituary

Patricia "Pat" L. (Buchanan) Hunt, 85, of New Plymouth, went to be with her Savior Dec. 25, 2008, surrounded by her grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2nd, 2009 at the New Plymouth Senior Center.
Patricia was born Nov. 23, 1923 in Boise, Idaho. Her parents were Harry and Edna Buchanan. She was the oldest of 5 girls. She attended school at Pierce Park in Boise.
On June 29th 1940 she married Maurice Hunt. They had 2 daughters; Marsha, who was born in 1945 and Dorothy in 1949. In 1947 they moved to Cambridge, Idaho to a ranch. Eventually, they moved with their 2 young daughters to Nampa, Idaho to a dairy farm. For the next twenty years Pat helped with the dairy and took care of her family and home. She was an excellent homemaker. She loved to bake and sew and had a knack for making a house a home. She also loved to decorate, and there wasn't a room in her house that lacked a warm welcome. She was a very talented painter and she also loved to read.
She was always eager to try a new recipe or to share one of her own.
When her daughters grew up and married and started families of their own, she took on her most important role of "Gram". She adored her grandchildren and spent a lot of time with them. She taught her granddaughters to sew and spent much time in the kitchen with them. As her grandchildren grew up and married she and Grandpa loved to help them make their own homes; even parking their camp trailer in the back yard, rolling up their sleeves and helping with remodeling projects.
In 1975 they built a home in Horseshoe Bend where Grandpa worked for Boise Cascade. Over the next 25 years they made many friends. They were also very involved in building the Horseshoe Bend Senior Citizens' Center.
In 2000 they moved to New Plymouth to be closer to family. They enjoyed this time with their daughter Dorothy and her family. In November of 2003, Grandpa Maurice passed away, and Grandma had to start a new chapter after losing her husband of 63 years. She had many friends who she would enjoy spending time with over the next few years. In July of 2004, her beloved daughter Dorothy passed, and Grandma's strength would be tested once again. She lived with her granddaughter, Kristi Kraft for some time, and then in November 2007 she moved into The Cottages in Middleton where she made many special friends.
She was a true lady, a strong woman and a devoted wife, doting mother and loving grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harry Buchanan and Edna, her husband, Maurice, her daughter Dorothy, and her sons-in-law, Jerry Jamison and John Weedon.
She is survived by her sisters, Joanne (Carl), Connie (Larry) Alder, Madith (John) Holiday. Peggy (Pete) Peterson, daughter Marsha Weedon of Seattle, 6 grandchildren, Justin (Pam) Weedon, Marty (Amy) Jamison, Kristi (Eric) Kraft, Mishara (Brian) Junkin, Patti (Herb) Foust, and Bobbi Weedon. 17 great-grandchildren: Amy, Ehryn, Coty, Easton, Micah, Justin, Micara, Niko, Akaisha, Hailey, Paige, Jacob, Ben, Mateo, Abby, Makayla and Chessa.

Your grandma has always been my "Aunt Pat" & although I haven't seen her very much in the last several years, I loved going to her house as a kid with my mom & dad, Lowell & Adah Newman. Uncle Maurice teased me no end, Dorothy was very cool & Aunt Pat was very dear. It's especially hard to say goodbye to a parent or grandparent so I'll be thinking of you all now & in the future.

My aunt Pat was a dear lady. I will miss her even though I live a distance away. I will be thinking of all of you who gather in her memory on Friday. I would love to be there with you.
