Robert Larsen Obituary

Robert J. Larsen (Dad/Bob) passed away, surrounded by family and friends, at his home Monday, May 9, 2011 at the age of 81.
Bob was born in Ashton, Ida., on Nov. 27, 1929.
After a brief stay in northern Idaho, the Larsen family settled in the Marsing area.
After graduating in 1947 from Marsing High School, Bob began farming and ranching with his family, eventually forming Larsen and Sons with his father and brothers. Their operation at one point included over 1,000 acres, split between the Marsing area and South Mountain outside of Jordan Valley, Ore.
As a young man, Bob was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. His love of hunting gained him friends throughout the country.
As a farmer, everything mechanical was repairable and the extra parts were potential works of art.
As a neighbor, Bob was always available and ready to help.
As a longtime member of Marsing Lion's Club, Bob served his community along with family and friends.
As a golfer, Bob was always ready to school his buddies on the value of a well placed 9 iron bump-and-run.
As a world traveler, he enjoyed all the people, places, and experiences. But it was Marsing that made him the happiest.
Surviving Bob are two sisters, Mildred Percifield and Belva Gordon; daughter, Debra (Frank) Urizar; four sons, Steve (Linda) Larsen, Corey (Monica) Larsen, Evan (Elizabeth) Miller and John Miller, and his grandchildren, Dustin Urizar, Ashley Larsen, Thomas Larsen, David Larsen, Morgan Miller, Josh Larsen and Jacob Larsen.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Sharon; his parents, Elmer and Irene; his sisters, Audrey and Glenda, and his brothers, Gordon, Lowell, and Ward.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 12, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Homedale, Ida. Funeral services will be Friday, May 13, at 10:30 a.m., in the Marsing Community Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be directed to the Marsing Community Center or the Marsing Lion's Club. In addition, an online guest book is available at www.flahifffuneral.com.

I lived with Bob, Sharon and the boys (Evan, John and Corey) the summer I turned 16 ('76) and my senior year of High School ('77-'78). I couldn't have picked a better family to live with. It is one of my fondest memories growing up. We also used to visit during family vacations. Their families are in my prayers.
