Robert Ruiz Obituary

Mabletown GA - IIt is with great sadness that the family of Robert (Rob) Dana Ruiz share that he has gone to be with his Lord and Savior on October 13,2024. While living in Atlanta, Georgia. Robert was born on August 12, 1971, in Caldwell, Idaho, to his parents Marcia and Armando Ruiz of Boise, Idaho.

Robert will be remembered for his love of music, jovial personality and pleasure for sight-seeing and shopping when traveling, especially to Key West for his Annual 'Framily' Labor Day vacation. Robert graduated from Borah High School in 1989 and pursued a career in banking. He started with Idaho First National Bank/U.S. Bank in customer service and then began to leverage relocation opportunities to further his career in operations. He held several leadership positions at locations in Boise, Idaho, Fredrick, Maryland, and Portland, Oregon. Last year he joined his partner Kermit Miller, in relocating to Atlanta. Georgia.

Robert was thoughtful, culturally aware, and was known for his passion to seek the story of others. He enjoyed volunteering for U.S. Bank and in his local communities. He helped establish the LGBTQ Business Resource Group for the Portland market and served as President from 2018 to 2021 and received the Legends of Possible Award in 2019. He also committed much of his adult life to adopting and caring for black cats. Robert was an active member of St. Benedict's Episcopal Church where he was a lector and Sunday school teacher. He was helping teach English as a second language and mentor for the Path to Shine Program. He was training to be a eucharistic minister.

Rob enjoyed long walks, nature hikes, and tending to his plants and trees. We already miss his frequent texts and pictures sharing what he saw. He enjoyed baking, hosting special meals, and trying new dessert recipes, especially Ambrosia Salad. Until we are reunited with him, Robert is likely organizing an Abba concert for those in Heavan and has likely scheduled another Meet and Greet to hang out with Olivia Newton John. One of his long-time greats, Barbara Mandrell who is still with us has gained an Angel to watch over her.

Robert was preceded in death by grandparents Jacinto and Uldina Ruiz, Mary Ellen and Glenn Allender, Uncles Lee Ruiz and Jacinto Ruiz (JR) and Cousin Vanessa McDermottRoe. Robert is survived by his partner of 18 years Kermit Miller, his parents Marcia and Armando Ruiz, brother Mark Ruiz, sister Heather Ruiz Morgan (Richard), nieces Presley and Harlow Morgan, nephew Carter Morgan, cousin/sister Lisa Tuning Wong (Brian), Jacqueline Garcia (Ryan Wood), Joaquin Garcia, Sierra Wong (Angelica Ceja), and his two beloved kitties Huddy B and Parker. He has many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The family will host a Celebration of Life for Robert on April 5, 2025, in Boise, ID. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Robert's name to Black Kitties - All About Cats Rescue & Adoption- Roswell, GA. Allaboutcatsrescue.org

I went to Hillcrest & Borah with Robbie, then years later I worked with him at US Bank. He was an amazing manager, & his humor, quick wit & personality made every day so much better! I still think of some of his sayings & laugh! Truly a great man who will be missed. Hugs to his family & friends.

I loved Robert very much. He was a great guy, with a great big heart, and I'll always think of him with great fondness. I'm very thankful that I got to spend part of my life with him. My deepest condolences to Kermit and his family.
