Shawn Ostyn Obituary
Shawn William Ostyn, 41 of Nampa passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013 at a local care center. He was born October 31, 1971, in Nampa, ID to Ray Russell and Betty Carol Coates Ostyn . He Attended Eastside & Central Elementary, South Jr. High and graduated from Nampa High School in 1990.
Shawn was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Nampa Second Ward and he loved serving many years as secretary of the Sunday School. He also loved volunteering for Nampa High School sports with his brothers Alan & Chris, keeping Stats, scorekeeping and broadcasting. He loved music and had a beautiful bass voice and sang in many ward and stake choirs. He had a great love for the Savior and had the faith of a little child. He was a Special Olympic participant in his school years and in the past year served as a volunteer.
Shawn is survived by his mother Betty; brothers Alan and Chris of Nampa; uncles Bill and DeWayne Coates of Nampa, Richard (Dawn) Ostyn of CA; aunts Irmagene Newbrey of WA., Lisa (Chris) Valenta of CA, Teresa Ostyn of OR, Debbie (Mike) Mayfield of WA and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Roy, grandparents Bill and Ellen Coates, Russell Ostyn and Donna and Leland Liebold; aunt and uncle Deloris and Pat Doughty.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday March 22, at the Nampa Second Ward LDS Chapel, 2212 Amity in Nampa with a viewing to be held from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the church prior to the services. Interment will be at Kohlerlawn Cemetery in Nampa. Arrangements have been provided by Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. 467-7300

Shawn is dearly missed by us left behind. He is in an indescribably beautiful place where nothing but love and truth abound. I will never forget Shawn and his sweet child-like presence. I hope through the merits of my Savior to one day qualify to be eternally in the presence of people of Shawn's character. He is a choice son of our Father.
