Shawn Wilde Obituary

Shawn C. Wilde, 34, died Thursday, March 26, 2009, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind. He was born in Nampa on May 23, 1974.
A 1992 graduate of Nampa High School, Shawn stayed true to his fiercely independent spirit and skipped commencement ceremonies, leaving instead for work on a ranch in Battle Mountain, Nev. He had earned his Eagle Scout as a teenager, taught himself to play the piano and guitar, enjoyed making music with neighborhood friends and family, and sang in a couple of small town bands during his years in Nevada.
Shawn served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from '93 – '95 in the Cleveland Ohio Mission. In '96, he married Aharon Burton of Gardnerville, Nev., in the Oakland California Temple.
He took pleasure from working with wood and made furniture for their newly-established home out of 2x4's. Fortunately, he devoted time over the years to refining his woodworking skills.
He worked as an EMT and later became a CNA. The family moved to Fort Wayne in 2004. Prior to his death, Shawn was employed as an ironworker with Iron-workers Local 173.
Shawn was proud to be the father of a houseful of sons – Christian (12), Mason (10), Samuel (5) and Quincy (8 months). He was an avid fisherman. He loved the outdoors, the smell of sage brush, quiet hours of solitude, but treasured time spent with his family.
Though he wouldn't want to be credited for it, Shawn cheerfully served others in countless ways. He had a gift for making others feel needed and important, always generous in the giving of his time and kind words. He was well known for his humor and memories of his crazy pranks and antics will keep his family laughing for years to come.
Shawn is survived by his wife and sons; his parents, Howard and Marcha Wilde of Nampa; brothers, Todd (Kim) Wilde of Cedar City, UT and Mark (Katie) Wilde of Nampa; sisters, Marci (Dennis) Durrant of Meridian and Delsi (Jack) Nixon of Salt Lake City, UT; sister-in-law, Cynthia Wilde of Kennewick, WA; 21 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a nephew, Michael Nixon and his oldest brother, Kirk.
Funeral services were held in Fort Wayne on Sunday, March 29. An open house will be held in honor of Shawn's life on Monday, April 6, from 7 until 9 p.m. at the home of Brent and Carol Lee, 6415 E. Locust Lane in Nampa. All friends and family are invited. The Wilde family extends their gratitude to the Lees for providing their home to accommodate this gathering. They are grateful to everyone for the outpouring of love and support shown them during this difficult time.

Howard and Marsha,
My goodness I was so sorry to learn of the loss of another one of your son's. Heavenly Father must really need the strength of the young Wilde men. I know this so supposed to be a short time before we see our loved ones and I am so grateful for that knowledge. But I don't think we truly understood how long the separation would seem so those of us left behind. My love and sympathy go to you and your precious family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Many prayers go out to all the Wildes. Shawn was not just my good friend's little brother, but also my good friend. I'd never have survived high school speech without him sitting right behind me cracking jokes the whole time. What a great guy with a tremendous sense of humor. I am so sad for his family. I can picture his smile and I'm sure you'll miss him terribly. God bless.

I went to high school with Shawn. Although I did not know him well, I do remember his sense of humor - very dry and hilarious. As someone else has said, he did not seem to sweat the small stuff. He seemed confident in who he was and was very genuine. Not many people are like that in high school, as we are figuring out what is important to us - he already seemed to know. I also remember he and Ben Kern and Klint Keller performing in a band at a school event. I think they only performed Steve Miller Band songs! And if my memory isn't failing me, they sounded pretty good!

The search for the blessing is the hardest part of the healing. We pray that once found, your blessing becomes an anchor for faith in brighter tomorrows and a fertile spot for growth in honoring memory and nurturing the goodness that lies within because of a loved one's presence in our lives. Your family in Florida, upholds you in prayer; seeking God's gift of strength and healing while providing assurance of the joyous reunion awaiting those who rest in Him.

I remember Shawn for his early years. I have thought about how you and Chris did many things together in Band. Your family is great. They have had quite a loss in the past couple of years. May all of your family be blessed at this time. Thank goodness for the gospel. I am sure he has a special family here on earth and they will get a chance to see him again. God Bless.

Shawn, We had some great times at CTH. The patients all loved you and so did we( your fellow nurses) we really missed you when you moved to Indiania. I'll never forget when one of our patients made a strange noise, and with a straight face, you said Oh that's only Tina she farts all of the time. I though I would die laughing. Any song I came up with you could sing it with your great voice and tell me the artist and year. You were a true friend, great father, and wonderful co-worker. Sleep well my friend.

I am so sad the world has lost such a great man. Shawn is one of the funnest, funniest most pleasent people I have known. I gained a respect for him when we went looking for Carl while the other scouts held down camp. I have missed him since I moved away from home, and will continue to miss him forever. May the Lord bless your beautiful family.

A&W Root Beer, I have not been able to look at the drink the same. Sean told me a story about him and a family member I think it was a brother enjoying an A&W on a hot summer day together, and how the simple drink would bring him right back to simpler times. He was a great example to me as a young man about not sweating the small stuff. Sean and I were on our way back from delivering some Christmas trees to some folks that needed a little extra help when I had thrown a hatched up on the dash of an old truck, the back of it hitting the windshield causing a small crack, I felt bad at the damage that I had caused, Sean laughed and said that the window was full of cracks already he then struck the window with his hand and caused the cracks to spread the length of the windshield I was a little shocked and then he told me to give it a whack. I have always looked up to Sean and I believe he new that. I was instantly saddened by the news of his passing. I first went to the store and got an A&W and then prayed for Aharon and the kids. I am sorry for your loss and miss you guys. Chad Niblett

Not a day goes by that I don't think of Jill and Tom. I also wish I had known you and Aleisha better and longer. It would have been so great if our families had been close and loving towards one another. We get so busy with our lives. If you are ever in MN, I live at 2219 Chelmsford Lane, St. Cloud, 56301. I haven't received a photo post card from you in awhile. You are blessed with four children? Wonderful. I am so sorry that Shawn is no longer with you to help raise the boys. You have to be strong and courageous. God does not give you more than you can handle and his grace is with you always.
