I would like to say this about Steven Russell Call. He was my older brother by 3 years. He was a beloved son to his parents, beloved grandson to his grandparents, beloved nephew to his aunts and uncles, beloved brother to his sister and 2 younger brothers, friend to many, and a husband, father to 4, and also a grandfather.
He was 3 years older than me. We had many adventures in childhood, and loved to make forts using chairs, the sofa and blankets. He would tease me like most big brothers do, but if anyone else did, he was my protector and my hero.
I have fond memories of trips from So.Cal to Utah, where our father owned property. We'd stay in motels in St.George, Utah, and had a lot of fun swimming in the motel pool, diving for coins mother would toss into the pool, playing at the city park, and hiking up on Mt.Dixie, exploring the numerous caves. On the trips to and from Utah, our parents would wake us when we reached Las Vegas, having put a mattress in the rear of the family station wagon, they'd roll down the rear window, and we'd hang our feet out and enjoy the sight of the lights of Las Vegas as we drove through the Strip.
Years later, he attended BYU in Provo Utah. He served full time mission for the LDS faith in Tahiti, and served in various callings in the faith...and also served in the U.S.A.F. and finished his service as an officer. He worked for many years at Boeing in Washington State to provide for his wife and children, and retired due to his diabetes and effects of diabetes.
He and his wife decided to move to Caldwell Idaho in later years, where they lived until his death on Monday, August 5, 2019, after extensive health issues over a period of years. I am told that he died peacefully in his home, with his wife Conni in attendance.
What would I like to say about Steven? He was a good man. He'll be missed by many. Rest in peace, big brother, and husband, and father, and cousin, and nephew, and friend. Rest easy.
