Walter Ellis Anderson, age 78, of Nampa passed away December 10, 2016 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Walter was born May 1, 1938 in Drayton, ND to Signe and Edwin Anderson. He had three older brothers and a sister.
Walter attended rural school in Eagle Point Township, near the family farm in Stephen, MN. He graduated from the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, MN in 1956. After graduation, he was a telegrapher from 1959 to 1967 for the Soo Line Railroad in the area. In between working for the Railroad Walter served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1963, serving at Quonset Point, RI and aboard the USS Essex. In 1967 Walt ended his work for the railroad and returned to the Minneapolis area and was employed by United Airlines in Customer Service. He also worked at JFK Airport in NY and retired after 30 years with United Airlines at Boise, ID.
Walt loved his schnauzers Sam, Mindy and Mandy, and wherever he went, they were along. He also loved John Deere tractors and did lawn work, had his dad's work ethics, and was a collector of other people's treasures that were for free.
Walter is survived by his wife of 38 years. Wilma; a son Wayne (Marianne); a sister Irene; step-children: Kevin (Kerrie) Patterson, Corrine Patterson (friend Bill Masterson) and Cathy (Wes) Vert; special grandchildren; nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Jane Anderson of Park River, ND and sister-in-law Lorna Anderson of Drayton, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Loren Walter Anderson in 1996; his three brothers: Clifford, Chester and Harvey.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 15, at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd, Nampa (467-7300) with a viewing from 12 to 1 p.m. prior to the services. Burial will be Friday, December 16, at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Road in Boise. Condolences may be expressed at zeyerfuneralchapel.com.
