Cherie Rymer Obituary

Cherie Ann Rymer
January 28, 1959 - March 24, 2015
Cherie Ann Rymer, age 56, of Pocatello passed away suddenly on March 24, 2015 while on a cruise in Mexico in the arms of her husband.
Cherie was born January 28, 1959 in Pocatello, ID to Egon and Gwyneth Jensen. She was the fourth of four children. She grew up in Pocatello and graduated valedictorian from Pocatello High School in 1977. Cherie received her Bachelor of Arts in French and German with a Secondary Education teaching certificate in 1982. During her college years, she studied as a Rotary Foundation Undergraduate Scholar in Saarbruecken, Germany.
While in high school, Cherie met Daniel Rymer who became her soul mate, and they married on May 30, 1981 and were coming close to celebrating 34 years of marriage. In 1982, Cherie and Dan moved to St. George, UT where she spent most of her time teaching French at Dixie High School and raising her two children, Danielle and Jacob. After a brief move to Meridian, ID, the Rymer family moved back to Pocatello in 1997, and Cherie became a French, German, and English teacher at American Falls High School where she taught until her passing. During her years at AFHS, she organized many different student exchanges with a high school in Straubing, Germany. She also led two other student trips to Europe.
Cherie loved to travel, read, cook, go walking and spend time with family. She always insisted on spending as much time as possible with her grandson, Jaxon. She was dedicated to sharing her love of languages and cultures with her students and her family.
Preceding Cherie in death are her parents, Egon and Gwyneth Jensen. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Rymer, of Pocatello; daughter, Danielle (and Darren) Cooley and grandson Jaxon, of Pocatello; son, Jacob (and Brittany) Rymer; sister, Diane Pierce, of Idaho Falls; Brother Timothy (and Kelli) Jensen, of Butte, MT; and Ronald (and Karen) Jensen of Pocatello.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2015 at the American Falls High School at 2966 S. Frontage Road in American Falls. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road with a viewing prior to services starting at 9:30 a.m. Condolences may be sent to the family online at wilksfuneralhome.com.

I'm so sorry to hear of Mme Rymer's passing. Just 2 days ago I was talking to my son, who is now taking high school French, about my awesome Dixie High School French teacher 1986-1989. I remember she invited us to her home for a movie party! She showed she sincerely loved her students! My condolences to her family. She will always be remembered.

Je suis désolé. Mrs. Rymer taught me for 3 years at Dixie High School. She was so vibrant and passionate! I'm so grateful for the beautiful French language that she shared with me. I think and dream in French because of her teachings. I think about her often and am so sorry for your loss. My heart is so very sad right now. My condolences.

So sorry to hear of the passing of this beautiful lady. I have known all of the Jensens my entire life. I remember Cherie as a young little freckle-faced girl full of smiles and laughter. Her brother Ron was one of my best friends growing up. Her son Jake is a joy to work with. Wishing you comfort and peace. Ted and Bev Corrington
