Coby Tigert Obituary

Coby Tigert
Icky and Linda are sad today, but Nellie is the happiest hunting dog in heaven because she has been joined by an old friend and loving companion, Coby Tigert.
Coby Tigert, 60, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, as the result of stroke.
The kindest man you'd ever meet, Coby was a doting husband of 39 years to Linda Tigert, and loving father of Merin and Zack. He was a mentor, a friend, and a calming influence when the world made no sense.
A fourth-generation Idahoan, the Soda Springs native worked tirelessly to protect the public lands which shaped his life. From the Bennett Hills to the Donkey Hills, from Caribou Mountain to the Fort Hall Bottoms, he chased elk, chukar, and trout.
To Coby, the outdoors weren't only about the success of a full freezer and the friendships forged over campfires, but about living in the glory of endless sagebrush plains, aspen-covered hills, and alpine streams so cold they'd freeze your toes on an August day.
With his razor-sharp wit, Coby could take the air out of a blowhard and still make him feel like the king of the world. At the same time, he could focus the debate or lift the dialog with little more than a friendly gesture. It was one of the best feelings to catch him smiling at you, friends agreed. He was kindness personified.
Coby is survived by his loving wife; his two children; his mother, Relda; his sister, Nancy (Cooper); his brother, Mack; and the hundreds of people lucky enough to meet and work with him.
He would have hated the pomp of a funeral so we plan to spread his ashes across his beloved Idaho when the leaves start turning and the elk talk. A celebration of Coby's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, friends can honor Coby's memory by working to keep the West out of the hands of robber barons and other scoundrels who look to the hills and see profit, not life and love.
He will be sorely missed but someday we will meet again, with shotguns in hand and Nellie and Icky on point.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Condolences may be made at www.colonial-funeralhome.com
