Constance Taylor Obituary
Idaho Falls, Idaho - Connie Goodwin Taylor passed away peacefully on July 8, 2024, after a short illness. Connie was born October 9, 1940, in Pocatello, Idaho, the second of seven children born to Dale Weaver Martin and Eilene Van Orden Martin.
Connie spent a happy childhood on the family farm in Pingree, Idaho. She and her sister, Merna, worked side by side every summer, weeding, cutting and picking potatoes; forming a strong work ethic she would exemplify throughout her life. Connie graduated from Snake River High School where she was active in cheerleading, twirling, and the drill team. She also pitched for the school softball team and was nicknamed, the hot-headed pitcher from Rockford. After graduation, she worked as an operator for the telephone company and as a teller and bookkeeper for First Security Bank.
Connie was setup on a blind date in 1957 with a handsome guy from Blackfoot, who drove a black and white Mercury convertible. They fell in love, and on November 26, 1958, she was sealed to Jerry Bruce Goodwin in the Idaho Falls Temple. They bought a house in Blackfoot where they lived and raised their six children. Their home was filled with music, and it was important to Connie that all her children have the opportunity to learn to play the piano. She encouraged them to practice and progress and loved to have the girls play for her and Jerry. She taught them the value of hard work through newspaper routes, early morning circular deliveries and responsibilities in the home. Connie was an early riser and could be found studying her scriptures every morning her entire life. She had many hobbies and interests and was known for her delicious hand dipped chocolates. She enjoyed bowling, scrapbooking, sewing, playing the piano, and making blankets for the grandkids. She loved to travel - visiting all 50 states. She especially enjoyed her trips to Jerusalem and New Zealand.
Connie worked at Dale's Jewelry for several years and cherished the friendships she made there. In 1989, she and Jerry bought Starlight Lanes and had the opportunity to meet many new friends while running the business.
Connie was a wonderful mother and grandmother and loved all her children and grandchildren deeply! Her greatest joy in life came from her posterity.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many capacities over her lifetime. She lived what she believed and left a lasting impact on all who knew and loved her. She served a mission to the New Jersey, Morristown Mission, and was an ordinance worker in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Her first husband, Jerry, passed away in 2010 and in 2014 she married Kenneth J. Taylor. She loved his children and grandchildren very much! Ken passed away on June 9, 2024.
