Donald Thorpe Obituary

Donald Laval Thorpe
CHUBBUCK - Mr. Donald Laval Thorpe, 75, Chubbuck resident, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2007, at his home following an illness. 
He was born March 19, 1932, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Donald Rupert and Dorothy Maybyn (Taylor) Thorpe. After graduation, Donald entered the military and served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He was honorably released November 22, 1953. 
Don worked as an operating engineer in road construction. 
He married Melba Waters Ashton. She passed away in January of 1988. Later, Don married Beverly Gail Bullock September 2, 1997. 
He enjoyed sailing, traveling and camping. He was known to help anyone who was down or struggling in any way. 
Donald is survived by his wife, Beverly, of Chubbuck; daughters, Loralie Beverland of Arco, Idaho, and Valarie (Danny) Jones of Pocatello; sons, Don (Anita) Thorpe of Salt Lake, Gene (Judy) Waters, Jerry (Sharon) Waters, all of Pocatello, Brent (Barbara) Waters of Chubbuck; stepchildren, Jason Smith and Jennifer Smith, both of Pocatello; sister, Cloda Kelley of Pocatello. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a previous wife, Melba Thorpe, and son, Neal Waters
As per Donald's wishes, he was cremated. Family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at 970 West Quinn Road. Private services will be held by the family at a later date.

Aunt June, Diane and Greg,
Uncle Butch was always in that "favorite uncle" category. I was saddened to hear that he had become very ill and, of course, of his eventual passing. Our hearts go out to you in your time if grief. Love Sue & John
