Edna Jorgensen Obituary

Edna Jorgensen
POCATELLO - Edna L. Jorgensen, 82, died in the loving arms of her children on April 9, 2008, in Pocatello.
Edna was born September 16, 1925, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to George and Bessy Edna Stewart Daley. She was the 11th of 13 children. She is survived by one sister, Beth Patton, of Simi Valley, California.
She married Donald H. Thompson and to their union was born Donald Ray (Edith) Thompson. Donald was killed during action on Iwo Jima during the assault to Mount Surabachi during World War II.
Following the war she met and married Edmund C. Burke in May, 1946, in Dillon, Montana. To their union was born three daughters, Joyce C. (Larry Sr.) Staker, Margaret Anne (Michael) Smith, and Linda C. (Ken Farley) Burke. Edmund passed away in 1974 after a long illness. In 1977, Edna married Carlyle L. Jorgensen. She helped him raise his three young daughters, Carlee (Tony) Wunderlich, Lisa Taylor and Darla (Edward) Black.
Edna was a lifelong resident of Idaho Falls until she moved to Shelley to live with Lisa Taylor in 2000, and then to Pocatello in June 2003, to live with her daughter, Linda Burke.
Edna was a beautiful seamstress. All the years her children were growing up she made beautiful Easter dresses, prom dresses and doll dresses. Edna had a great love of music and a beautiful singing voice - she loved to sing for her family. In her later years she loved to crochet dolls and clothing for her grandchildren.
Edna was a hardy camper and loved to put a worm on the hook and dip the fishing pole in the water. Edna and Carlyle spent many mornings of their retired years playing pinochle and many evenings on the dance floor.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, six brothers, five sisters, and one great-grandson. She is survived by all of her children, 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Edna was beloved by her family and will truly be missed.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2008, at the Berean Baptist Church, 2975 East First Street, with Pastor Todd Wood officiating. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, P. O. To all who knew Edna, she will be missed. She had a big heart and was a very kind and loving woman. I remember as a child coming over to the Jorgensen's home, and she would always welcome me and let me stay well past my welcome! She played a mean deck of cards too! My heart goes out to the family and her friends. May she be at peace and her memories kept alive through her family.
