Jacquelyn Savage Obituary

Jacquelyn "Jackie" Savage
On December 19, 2016 the Lord called home his daughter, our earthly mother, Jacquelyn Delone (McGaugh) (Frazier) Savage, age 81; surrounded by her loving family.
Jackie was born on June 16, 1935 in Pocatello, Idaho to Vernon Lee and Laurel Francis (Holmes) McGaugh. She attended Pocatello High School, and graduated in the top of her class. She was well liked and respected by her peers. She was involved in the Poky High Cheer club, and Student Government. She danced from age 3 with Kasai Dance Studio performing toe dancing, tap dancing and acrobats. She could do a back bend when she was in her 30's, and never lost her flexibility her entire life. During high-school she worked at the A&W as a car hop; Orphium Theatre and Chief Theatre. Upon graduation, she was offered an opportunity to dance in Las Vegas; a scholarship to attend Boise State College, now University. Instead she chose to marry her high-school sweetheart, Lyle Duane Frazier. Together, they moved to Oceanside, California where Duane was stationed in the USMC. Their first child, Douglas Craig Frazier, was born. After, four years of military service they moved to San Diego, California. Jackie worked driving cars from Los Angeles, California to San Diego, California. Eventually, they returned to Pocatello, Idaho and three more children were born; Teresa "Teri" Jean, Jerre Lea and Lloyd Duane Frazier. Jackie began working for Gem State Insurance for five years prior to taking employment at Beneficial Financial as a cashier. During her 29 ½ year career at Beneficial, Jackie was promoted to Manager in 1972. She was the first woman to be promoted to the position of manager in the history of the company. Jackie was in a pinochle club and bowled on a league at Karen Lanes, O'G Roach, with her classmates for thirty plus years. Receiving so many pins recognizing her 200 games, she didn't have enough room on her shirt to display them all. Jackie was a member of Soroptomist. During her employment at Beneficial, Jackie was offered a district management position that would have required her to relocate to California. She selflessly turned down the opportunity, so she could continue to raise her children in Pocatello, ID. Jackie liked to perform in local plays, including the Sound of Music performed at the legendary Chief Theatre. Jackie was an amazing homemaker. Her home was always dressed in beauty and cleanliness with the smell of home cooking. She was a wonderful cook. She was a member of the Central Christian Church, and as a young lady attended summer church camps. After two years of being a single working mother she met and married Wallace Savage of Aberdeen, Idaho, September 8, 1973. They were married 40 years. Together, they opened and operated Best Way Pest Control, Inc. until 2012. They loved traveling in their spare time, and eventually settled on a winter home in Sun City West, Arizona. They loved to golf and entertain friends in their Arizona home. Jackie had friends from all over the country. After her retirement from Beneficial, Jackie opened and operated Jackie's Tone and Tan for 17 years. She was voted the number one tanning salon and business by the Pocatello Chamber of Commerce. Jackie loved people and enjoyed working. She worked until she fell ill, which led to the sale of her tanning salon in 2007.
Jackie was preceded in death by her mother, Laurel Francis McGaugh; Nephew, Allen Lee McGaugh; father, Vernon Lee McGaugh; brother, Jerry Lee McGaugh; husband, Wallace S. Savage; and daughter, Teresa "Teri" Jean Welch.
She is survived by her children, Douglas Craig (Angie) Frazier of Big Piney, Wyoming, Jerre Lea (Dr. David) Wise of Pocatello, Idaho, Lloyd Duane Frazier of Boise, Idaho; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 6 step-children, Cindy, Ann, Randy, Suzette, Sandra and Royce.
A viewing will be held on Monday, December 26, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 11 am at the Central Christian Church, 918 East Center, Pocatello, ID 83201, with a viewing for one hour prior to the services at the church.
