Janae Hansen Obituary

Janae Hansen
February 5, 1955 - September 29, 2016
Janae Eleanor Walker Hansen, 61, of Blackfoot passed away peacefully on September 29, 2016, at her home surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Janae was born February 5, 1955, in Brigham City, Utah, to Leo Allen Walker and Beth Eleanor McCrary. She was the youngest of five children and was actively involved with her family, school, and church. As a child, she was chosen as Junior Peach Queen for the annual Brigham City Peach Days Celebration. She was also selected to speak at her high school LDS Seminary graduation. She graduated from Box Elder High School in 1973.
Janae attended Utah State University studying early childhood education. During the middle of her freshman year she met Zane Hansen. They enjoyed a 17 month courtship and were married on June 12, 1975, in the Logan LDS Temple.
After Zane graduated from Utah State, they returned to Blackfoot to farm in partnership with his parents. They bought a home in Rockford where they lived for 25 years and raised their five children. In 1997, Zane started working as a salesman at Pioneer Equipment Co., and in 2003 they built a home on Pioneer Road.
Janae was a wonderful wife, mother, and homemaker. She received great joy and contentment in raising her family and supporting her husband. She enjoyed holidays, crafts, and scrapbooking. Her greatest happiness came from being with her family. Janae and Zane enjoyed many wonderful trips and outings together, several of them with their children, grandchildren, other family members, and friends.
After her younger children entered school, Janae began working in the Snake River School District. Initially, she served as a substitute teacher and aide prior to finding the place she loved as a Language Pathologist Assistant. She worked in that position for 12 years and received much satisfaction in working with her students.
Janae was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings in Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society. Most recently she served in the Blackfoot Young Single Adults 1st Ward where she loved associating with the young single adults.
Janae is survived by her husband, Zane; and children; Cami Hansen of American Fork, Utah, Lance (Joni) Hansen of Montpelier, Idaho, Tyler (Carrie) Hansen of American Fork, Utah, Tate (Amber) Hansen of Bountiful, Utah, and Kandace (Jonathon) Wheelwright of Provo, Utah;,she is also survived by 10 grandchildren; three sisters and a brother, Karen (Bob) Hills of Sandy, Utah, Marilee Wilson of Sandy, Utah, Teri (Ken) Tuttle of Elk Ridge, Utah, and Rick (Lorrie) Walker of Springville, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Blackfoot West Stake Center, 101 N 900 W. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to services at the church.
