Jean Hess
IDAHO FALLS - Jean Hess, 79, of Idaho Falls and formerly of Pocatello, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2007, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
She was born on December 28, 1927, to Nephi and Della Helm in Idaho Falls, the youngest of seven children. She was raised in Idaho Falls and attended Idaho Falls High School, and worked various jobs after school and on Saturdays.
She met Dewey Hess by writing letters to soldiers fighting in World War II. When he got back they married and had four children. They were married for 28 years.
She cherished being a mother and a homemaker. She also worked as an apartment manager and clerk for fine clothing stores.
She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She made beautiful needlework and was also skilled at painting and sewing, making most of her children's clothing.
She is survived by her daughters, Dew-Etta Jean Moss of Idaho Falls, RaeDene (Bill) Singleton of San Jacinto, California, LuAnn (Dave) Brown of Pocatello; sister, Marian Elg of Ammon; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Hess, son, Kenneth Dewey Hess, both parents, one brother, four sisters, and three great-grandsons.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2007, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. Fourth Ave. in Pocatello. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral service at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
