Marilyn Hathaway Smith

1941 - 2025

Marilyn Hathaway Smith, age 83, of Lava Hot Springs, ID, returned to her Heavenly Home and back to her parents, older brothers, and son Randy on September 12, 2025. She was born on November 7, 1941 in Chester, ID to Burmah Lee Majors and Arthur Gilbert Hathaway.

On September 24, 1960, she married Earl Harlan Smith and together they built a loving family. They were looking forward to celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary in just a couple of weeks.

She is survived by her siblings, William Hathaway and Sharon Hathaway Gunter, husband Earl, children Margene Morris (Jonathan), Karen Holladay (Walter), Rosilee Lawson (Bret), William Smith (Shannon), Natalie Morrison (Darwin), daughters-in-law Lisa Smith (Randy) and Wendy "Smith" Offenbecher, 34 grandchildren, 28 great- grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Wayne Hathaway and Jerry Hathaway, and son Randy Earl Smith.

Marilyn dedicated her life to her family. She was devoted to her husband and gave countless hours of support to him, her children, and her grandchildren. She was an incredible example of hard work and compassion. She always managed to make those around her feel loved and comfortable.

Funeral services will be held at 12pm noon Thursday September 18, 2025 at Lava Hot Springs Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints Chapel, 437 W Spring St, Lava Hot Springs, ID. A viewing will be held before the services at 10:30am. Interment will follow at the Lava Hot Springs Cemetery.
