Neva McGrath Obituary

Neva Marie McGrath
BANCROFT - Neva Marie McGrath, 66, of Bancroft, Idaho, passed away at her home following a sudden illness on Feb. 25, 2009.
She was born in Pocatello, Idaho, on Sept. 28, 1942, to the late Emery (Doc) Roberts and Karen Marie (Knudsen) Roberts. She was the youngest of eight children. She attended school in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School.
She married Thomas Knight on July 15, 1961, and moved to Portland, Oregon. They were later divorced. She was blessed with five active boys who meant the world to her.
Neva worked as a secretary and was in public relations for many years before returning to Pocatello, where she met and married Michael McGrath on July 4, 1992. They lived in Pocatello for several years before moving to Arizona, and then back to Oregon. Neva returned to Idaho in September of 2006, and bought a home in Bancroft in June of 2007.
She spent her days as a reading tutor in Bancroft, was involved in Bancroft city civic activities and remodeling her new home. Neva and her husband, Mike, loved to get in the car and go for long drives, stopping along the way to take pictures of things she found interesting or beautiful to use in her paintings. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, ceramics and cooking.
She loved life and always looked for the best in things and people. She loved her new home and enjoyed meeting and interacting with the people of Bancroft.
Neva is survived by her sons, William Thomas (Valerie) Knight, Patrick Ray (Debbie) Knight, Brian Willis (Jaylene) Knight, Kristian Neal Knight, all of Oregon, and son, John Emery Knight of Arizona; grandchildren, Mariah, Cody, Ian, Kaden, Kylie and Kannon; stepdaughters, Karen Hill, Kim (Dave) Kessel and Mickie Driver of Pocatello, and Cindy Buchanan of Iowa and their children. She is also survived by her siblings, Tom Roberts, Downey, Idaho, Ethelyne Roberts, Riverton, Utah, Ray Roberts, Pocatello, Idaho, Marcile Howard, Austin, Texas, and Tommy Roberts, Reno, Nevada. Neva was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, her parents and brothers, William Roberts and Bobby Roberts.
She will be greatly missed by all.

Aunt Neva will remain a special person in my life. I remember her putting three rows of ringlets in my hair,as a small child. But most recently it was going over to her house and helping where I could with what she needed. I know some of you have seen a particular picture she just had to snap.
My love to the family, know that I too miss her.

For my baby sister, Neva Marie:
I first saw Neva when she was two days old. A nurse walked by carrying this baby with black hair and a little round face. Daddy said, "That is your baby sister." Some of the things I remember about Neva was when she was about 18 months old, and someone put real boxing gloves on her. They were so big and heavy that when she walked, they hung to the floor. When she was about three, I saw her standing on a chair in front of a mirror patting her hair saying, "I'm so pretty I can hardly stand it." I also remember bathing her in the kitchen sink. She splashed everything and everybody. I moved away and she grew up to be a pretty and happy girl. She bought her house and was having the time of her life fixing it up. She needed a rug for her bedroom, so she painted one and even painted a fringe on it. We laughed about that. She was so creative and so happy. No one loved her more than her five sons and her siblings; for you see, she was, and will always be, my very loved baby sister.
