Steven Deeg Obituary

Steven Kent Deeg (68), a nearly lifelong resident of American Falls, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024, at the University of Utah Hospital, surrounded by his family. Steven was born on November 11, 1955, in American Falls and grew up on the family farm in Rockland Valley. He graduated from American Falls High School in 1974. Steven went on to complete a technical education program in diesel mechanics at Idaho State University and returned to work on the family farm. Later, as his daughters began attending college, he too returned to school on a scholarship, completing an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer Software Engineering Technology/Language Specialist, multiple Post-Secondary Certificates in Software Engineering and Technology, a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Training and Development, and a Master of Training and Development in Human Resource Training and Development. Steven's life was one of service to his community as he served as a Deacon at the United Church of Christ in American Falls, on the local Farm Bureau Board, and Harms Memorial Hospital Board as a member and President. He also served as ISU Student Association Vice President of the College of Technology. While Steven enjoyed teaching experiences post-graduation, he continued farming until his retirement in 2015.

Steven married Lynn Haugen in Newberg, Oregon, on February 11, 1978. Together, they raised two daughters, Michelle and Amber. They enjoyed many trips to visit family in Oregon, and he loved the beaches of Kauai, Hawaii. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping, hunting, and fishing. Steven supported his family in their many adventures, including Lynn's art and photography, and as a fantastic "girl dad," he sat through many ballet and dance performances of his daughters. He was instrumental in his grandchildren's lives, even volunteering in Hunter's kindergarten classroom. Steven will always be remembered by those who know and love him as a man who embodied faith, integrity, honesty, perseverance, and hard work. He died doing what he always did, fighting for fairness and justice, which he would never have the privilege of enjoying.

Steven is survived by his wife Lynn of Pocatello, Idaho; his daughters Michelle (John) Deeg-Davis of Vancouver, Washington, and Amber (Dillon) Roberts of Boise, Idaho; his grandchildren Hunter (Makenna) Stewart, Echo (Braxton) Brockett, Rowan Davis, Charlie Roberts, and Max Roberts; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services will be held followed by a private graveside service at American Falls Cemetery. Memories and condolences may by shared by visiting wilksfuneralhomes.com

To Lynn, Michelle and Amber, we're asking the Lord to cover you with His love and peace as you adjust to this massive hole in your family and community! Steve made goals and did what he could to meet them. He made his life count! That is an admirable trait we pray will be modeled to the next generations! In the meantime, may the Lord strengthen you for all that's ahead and assure you of His never-ending love and presence!
Christlove,
Steve and Bonnie DeNully
