Thomas Robbins Obituary

Thomas Robbins
POCATELLO - Thomas (Tommie) Marvin Robbins, 62, our loving husband, father, uncle, and friend passed away at home on Monday, July 9, 2012.
Tommie was born January 2, 1950, in Tremonton, Utah, to Julia Simmons and Thomas Robbins Sr. He grew up surrounded by his huge "extended" family in the Stone, Idaho area and Pocatello. Tommie graduated from Malad High School in 1968. He was a hospital corpsman in the U.S. Navy stationed with the Marines from 1968 to 1972, during the Vietnam conflict.
It was during this time that he met his "wife-to-be," Colleen Craig, in San Diego. They were married in Pocatello, Idaho, on November 24, 1972, where they later raised two children, Jolene and Craig. Tom worked for 21 years (and retired from) United Parcel Service.
Tommie loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid softball player, fisherman, and hunter. We have many fond memories of our softball and camping trips with his team members and friends. He was a diehard Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Braves fan. Many an "argument" arose over who was going to win the Super Bowl or World Series.
Tommie is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Colleen Robbins, Chubbuck; daughter, Jolene Robbins (Nick Charter), Pittsburgh, Pa.; son, Craig Robbins (Shauna Biggs), Pocatello; sister, Cheryle Jones, Pocatello; brothers, Bob (Barbara) Robbins, American Falls, Chris (Julie) Robbins, Tooele, Utah, Monte (Cindy) Robbins, Muncie, Ind., and Curt (Micky) Robbins, Ogden, Utah; numerous nieces and nephews; a loving family of aunts and uncles that have been more like brothers and sisters to us all; and more friends than we can count. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Julia Robbins. Our only regret is that Tom will not be here to hold his new granddaughter due to Craig and Shauna in November.
A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 14, with funeral services beginning at noon at Downard Funeral Home, 241 N. Garfield Ave. Pocatello, Idaho, (208) 233-0686. We would like to invite our friends and family to the Independence LDS Church at 4773 Independence, Chubbuck immediately after the service for refreshments and the opportunity to for us to visit and share memories of Tommie.
Per his wishes a "toast to Tom" will be held at a future date.
Tom's passing was sudden and unexpected. We would like to express out deep appreciation for all the expressions of love, support, concern, and kindness shown during this difficult time.
