Vaughn Webb Obituary

Vaughn Lewis Webb
September 2, 1931 - August 7, 2014
Our most beloved Daddy and Grandfather finished his journey on earth on August 7, 2014. He died peacefully in the care of the staff at Emeritus at Ridge Wind Assisted Living.
Vaughn Lewis Webb was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Mary Katherine Webb, and his only brother Jay Webb. He is survived by his son Vaughn Lewis Webb Jr. (Cindy), Guthrie, Oklahoma; daughter April Sue Busby (Mike), Pocatello, Idaho; grandchildren Heather Anne Busby, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Holly Rose Williams (Chris), Providence, Utah, and Jordan Michael Busby, Pocatello, Idaho; great-grandchildren Jace Jordan DeMucha and Lincoln Paul Williams; and close friend and cousin Joretta Burke, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Vaughn was born to Asie and Anne Webb on September 2, 1931, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was the oldest of three children. He and his brother Jay spent most their childhood days fishing on the snake river. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School where oddly enough is grand-daughter is now an English teacher.
Vaughn was very musical, singing in the choir and playing the trumpet in the school band. Toward the end of his senior year in HS he met Mary Katherine Dyer at a combined choir concert and they started to date. They fell in love and were married in Riverside, CA, on April 16, 1951, where Vaughn was serving in the Air Force. After they married Vaughn was sent to Korea to serve during the Korean war.
After his service he and Mary moved to Pocatello were he attended Idaho State University. Once settled they began a family of a son, Vaughn Lewis Jr., and a daughter April Sue. Vaughn graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1970.
Vaughn worked in retail while attending school and for many years sold cars for Hill Brothers and Phil Meador. In the late 70's he went to work as a surveyor for the Idaho State Hwy. Dept.
He and wife Mary did everything together and enjoyed traveling, fishing, biking and golfing. Their home was emasculate and Mary always seemed to have a project for Vaughn to be doing whether it be painting, building, or gardening.
Vaughn and Mary helped raise their three grandchildren and spent much of their time helping to run them to activities and attending performances and games. Grandpa was always there to help with whatever needed to be done.
In the last years of their marriage Mary suffered with cancer and Vaughn never left her side. He was the most attentive caregiver anyone could ever hope for. Mary died in February of 2008.
In 2010, Vaughn moved to Emeritus at Ridge Wind where he met Eloise McCormick. He and Eloise became the best of friends and spent many hours swapping stories and laughter. Eloise, an avid walker, would make Vaughn go for walks.
Anyone who was around Vaughn knew that he had a very comedic personality. He was just naturally funny and came up with funny sayings and stories all the time. He LOVED people and he loved to talk!
A huge thank you to the staff at the Idaho Kidney Center and Emeritus at Ridge Wind. Thank you for caring for and loving our Father. A special thanks to the LDS church members at Ridge Wind and to Eloise McCormick, the Gunn family and Alaina Sanders. You made a huge impact on Vaughn.
Please join us for a celebration of Vaughn's life on Monday, August 11th, at 1:00 pm. at Christ's Love Vineyard Church on the corner of 2nd St. and Benton in Pocatello.
