Wendell Smith Obituary

Wendell (Dick) Smith
Wendell (Dick) Smith, 86, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2015 surrounded by family following a short illness. September 29th just happens to be National Coffee Day, which is fitting since coffee was Dick's passion.
Dick married Maxine Hunter on September 15, 1950. They just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Dick was stationed for 2 years in Germany with the Army. Upon his return he began a 30 year career with Mountain Bell. Dick and Maxine settled in Pocatello, Idaho and were blessed with four children.
Dick enjoyed coffee and "BS" with his buddies at the coffee shop. He was known for his stories, sense of humor, and his love of the outdoors. Dick was always willing to lend a helping hand, especially if he got to "hold the light".
Dick is survived by his wife, Maxine; daughter, Verna (Rex) Yarger; sons, Randy (Sally) Smith, Tony (Maggie) Smith, and Brent (Karen) Smith. He is also survived by four of his brothers, Dennis, Bob, Blaine, LDee; one sister, Dureen; 8 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 5, 2015 at 11am in Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello, 232-0542. Family will receive friends Sunday evening 6-8 pm in the funeral home and one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Lund Cemetery, Lund, Idaho.
