Alice Hampel Obituary

Alice "Adele" Hampel
February 28, 1931 September 29, 2014
Alice Adele Hampel, 83, of Boise, passed peacefully in her sleep on September 29, 2014, at the Rosetta Assisted Living Center in Twin Falls, Idaho. After suffering from severe dementia, she is whole, again, and with our Lord. Adele, as she was known to most, was the last of four children, born February 28, 1931, in Kalispell, MT, to Philip Fred and Eunice Elvira Holzknecht. The family moved to Oakland, CA, a year later, and she spent her formative years in the Bay Area, surviving the Great Depression. After graduating from Fremont High School, she met Harold Hampel, and the two were married at St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church in Oakland on July 8, 1951, and later celebrated their 60th anniversary. They settled in Palo Alto first, had three children between 1952 and 1964, and moved to Mountain View in 1965. After the youngest of the children entered school, Adele worked part-time until Harold's career as an engineer with Hewlett-Packard took them to Boise, Idaho, where they enjoyed a full life, traveled, finished rearing their youngest child and retired. Adele was a devoted mother and wife, holding manners, morals and education in high regard. She enjoyed sewing, was an excellent cook, tried her hand at canning, played tennis, and always looked forward to family gatherings.
Adele is survived by her husband; a son, Clifton Hampel of Boise; a daughter, Tekla (Scott) Staley of Howe, ID; a brother, Robert "Bobby" (Pat) Holzknecht of Sacramento, CA; a sister, JoAnn (Dave) Rutledge of Clovis, CA; and a grandson, Nathan Hampel of Boise.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Philip Hampel; and a sister, Tekla Davis.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2014, at St. Mark's Catholic Community Church, 7960 Northview, Boise, ID 83704. A reception at the church will follow.

I am so sad that I didn't know of the service. I was away and missed the notice. I was home in time but didn't know. She had the meanest forehand on the court. She helped us win a lot of matches. Bless her, sorry she had dementia. We would like to see Harold. God Bless
