Anna Marie Nasman
January 23, 1939 - January 14, 2023
Boise, Idaho - On Jan. 14, 2023, a beautiful soul passed peacefully into the arms of angels.
Anna Marie Nasman was born January 23, 1939, in the small Idaho town of New Plymouth to John and Lenora Piper. An adventurous, imaginative and active child, she loved being in nature, her pets and team sports. She graduated from Council High School in 1957 after which she moved to Boise to attend Boise Junior College and worked to save money for her mission.
It was in Boise that she was introduced to the love of her life, Gary Nasman. Gary was drafted into the Army shortly after they met, and while Anna served a mission in Johannesburg, South Africa, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served his country in West Germany. After completing her mission, Anna met Gary, who was on leave, in Switzerland, where they discovered absence makes the heart grow fonder. Shortly after they returned to the US, they sealed their love in the Idaho Falls LDS temple on August 29, 1964.
Within a year, they welcomed their first child and within the next 5 years, welcomed 3 more into their home. After welcoming their long awaited and only boy, Anna was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
For the next 50 years, she would battle MS until, while working as a receptionist for the Bureau of Land Management in 1992, a flare-up confined her to a wheelchair for the remainder of her life. Although it slowed her down, she never let it get her down and maintained a positive and cheerful attitude throughout her life.
Anna is survived by her loving husband of nearly 58 years, Gary Nasman, four children, 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren as well as two brothers, Jack and Tom Piper.
Services for Anna will be held Fri., Jan. 27, 11am, at the LDS chapel located at 6375 N. Royal Park Ave., Boise. Visitation will be Thurs., Jan. 26, 6:00-8:00pm, at Relyea Funeral Chapel, 318 N. Latah St., Boise, and also from 10:00-10:45am before the service at the church.
