Barbara Heaton Obituary

Barbara Jane (Hodgson) Heaton
1935 ~ 2015
Barbara Jane (Hodgson) Heaton passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on July 26, 2015. Barbara was a loving, devoted and adventurous woman who loved to laugh and find a way to bring joy to those around her.
Barbara was born to Richard and Mary Todd Hodgson on August 18, 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska. She was the eldest of four siblings: two younger sisters, Toddy Ann and Nancy, and brother, Fred. During high school, Barbara became a junior marksman. After graduation she married her high school sweetheart, Richard "Dick" Heaton on June 27, 1953. Together they had two sons: Gregory was born in 1954 and Steven in 1955. They left Omaha and moved to Pocatello, ID in 1957 to pursue their dream of a better future.
Dick and Barbara then moved to Boise, ID in 1968. She was always the unwavering and supportive wife while Dick worked to purchase and build Western Construction, Inc. Barbara was dedicated to her boys and later her two grandchildren. She was always at the forefront and very active with all of their pursuits. It didn't matter if it was a piano recital, football game, or a bmx race, Barbara was there to cheer everyone on or offer a hand to help.
Although they worked hard, some would argue that Dick and Barb played harder. Entertaining, bowling, fishing, traveling. She loved to fish the Snake River for catfish. Later Dick and Barb spent their summers in Anacortes, WA fishing for salmon, halibut and cod which were their favorites. She enjoyed boating in the San Juan Islands up to Canada and visiting family in Haggard's Cove. In the winter, they would spend several weeks in Maui, HI at their condo, walking the beach at sunrise.
Most importantly Barb was a woman of Faith. It was a rare Sunday if Barb and Dick weren't in church.
Barbara is survived by: her sisters, Toddy Ann Manson and Nancy Cushion; brother, Fred Hodgson; son, Steven C. Heaton; grandchildren, Nichole D. Heaton-Muller and Chad J. Heaton; and great-grandchildren Taylor, Holly, Carter, Hank, Ty, Lucy, and Alisa. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Gregory L. Heaton.
Services will be held Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Rockies, Amity Campus.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations go to the Heaton Chapel, Amity Campus Building Fund, 4464 S. Maple Grove Road, Boise, ID 83709.

I will miss the friendship that she always showed me when ever I went to her door or we sat on the front lawn while she pull weeds in the landscaping, or she was stuffing pumpkin plastic bags at Halloween and her smile. How she enjoyed holiday with all her decorations and so much more. Very hard to look out the window and know she isn't there. Terry T
