Mr. David LaFoy Heaton, age 70, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026, surrounded by family.

He was born to the late Edwin LaFoy and Bonnie Brown Heaton on January 18, 1956, in Anderson, South Carolina.

He was a 1974 graduate of Johnson High School. In 2014, he retired from the City of Gainesville after 28 years of dedicated service. He was a steadfast follower of Jesus Christ since childhood.

His golden years were filled with days spent tinkering on Ole' Blue, his beloved 1985 Chevy Silverado, countless meals at Rabbittown Café with Daddy, and spending quality time with family and friends.

His commitment to family, faith, and finding joy every day will be forever remembered by those lucky enough to have met him.

Mr. Heaton is preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law, Drusella Dyer Roberts, and his brother-in-law, Timothy Rail.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Felicia (Lisa) Heaton; daughter, Morgan Heaton; son, Kyle Heaton; grandchildren, Silas and Ruthie Heaton; sister, Karen Rail; nieces, Kacey (Bryan) Headrick and Kristi Rail; great-nieces, Lauren and Faith Headrick.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Friday, March 27, 2026. Celebration of Life will be held at 3:30 pm Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Memorial Park Funeral Home Main Location, 2030 Memorial Park Drive, Gainesville, Georgia 30504. Inurnment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted or in lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Mr. David Heaton to Appalachian Hospice,1346 Pat Haralson Drive, Blairsville, GA 30512 or Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org/georgia, or a charity of your choice
