Bruce Summers Obituary

Bruce Gregory Summers passed away December 30, 2005. He was born Feb. 3, 1938 to Wayne and Elda Summers in Casper Wyo. moving to Weiser, Idaho in 1940 where his father was manager of the JC Penney Store and to Boise in 1951 when his father was Commissioner of Law Enforcement for the State of Idaho. Bruce graduated from Boise High in 1956 and University of Idaho in 1960 as a Top 10 Senior and member of the Silver Lance Senior Men's Honorary. He then became a U.S. Army Officer, serving two years active duty in Germany as a tank unit commander when the Berlin Wall went up. While in Germany he married his life partner Helga Leimkugel in Bed Windsheim Germany in 1962. He joined the Idaho First National/West One Bank in 1962 as a management trainee. He graduated from Pacific Coast Banking School at University of Washington and National Commercial Lending School at University of Oklahoma and earned a CCL designation from the American Bankers Association. He retired from the bank in 1996 after thirty four years of service. After retirement Bruce and Helga continued their love of family, tennis, golf, gardening, hiking and traveling. He is survived by his wife Helga, son Jock (Julie) and granddaughters Kara, Kendal and Kristen; his daughter Lisa (Arthur) with grandson Max. At his request, services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Cremation Society of Idaho.

Thank you for the Wonderful, fun memories that we were able to share with Bruce in the ACU ST. Lukes Meridian...Your a wonderful family and he was a great Husband, Father and Grandpa and friend and will be missed.
