Calvin Loffer Obituary

Calvin Loffer
July 5, 2002 - September 8, 2021
Boise, Idaho - Calvin Alexander Loffer died much too soon, at the age of 19, on September 8, 2021, as a result of complications from a seizure.
Calvin was born on July 5, 2002 to Carolyn Cort and Chris Loffer. He was a thoughtful and sensitive little boy who loved to make people laugh. Calvin was a hard working, scrappy athlete and played PAL soccer, Optimist Football, Y-Ball, AAU Basketball and Ultimate Frisbee. He loved to build with Legos (even as a teenager) and be outside shooting hoops, throwing a football, or hiking in the foothills. He also loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, Star Wars, Marvel movies, memes and music.
Calvin was a very good student who loved deep conversations and healthy debate. He attended Sage International School and graduated in 2020. At Sage he met his best friends and developed strong relationships with his teachers. He went on to attend Boise State and then College of Western Idaho, where he was currently enrolled.
Calvin was a hard worker and had many jobs in his short life. He served people with enthusiasm and joy at Sonic, Cafe Zupas, and most recently Home Depot. He had a successful lawn mowing business for many years and was known as the lawn boy who sang (very) loudly as he mowed. Calvin was a happy, dancing bell ringer for the Salvation Army during the holiday season and a kind referee for youth Y-Ball, teaching and officiating just like teen refs had done for him in the past.
A sweet, sensitive, caring extrovert, Calvin loved people and felt emotions very deeply. He became passionate about bringing awareness to mental health issues, and decreasing the stigma of anxiety and depression. He wanted to spread his message that "life is beautiful" and that it's ok to reach out for help. Calvin spoke to many audiences as an advocate for suicide awareness and saw this as his future and purpose. Towards this goal, he was pursuing a degree in Communications at the time of his death.
Calvin was predeceased by his beloved brother Jake and his paternal grandparents, Lyle and Patti Loffer. He is survived by his parents, step parents Mike and Angie, sister Jenna, step-siblings Jordan, Danielle, Aubrey and Sydney, maternal grandparents Bob and Pam Cort, cousins, aunts and uncles and many, many friends.
Memorials or donations can be made to the Idaho Suicide Prevention Hotline, or Optimist Youth Football of Boise.
