Carl Funk Obituary

Carl J. Funk passed away of natural causes in Boise on May 6, 2006. Carl was born in Belville, Illinois on July 30, 1946. He spent his childhood as a farm boy in Dawson, North Dakota and then moved to Eureka, Montana in 1962. He joined the Air Force in 1966 and was discharged at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho in 1969. Carl was a Journeyman plumber and was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Trade Union. Carl enjoyed fishing, hunting and celebrating with family. He had friends everywhere he went and never met a person he didn't eventually befriend. Carl was an avid card player and loved to play pinochle and other card games. A special thanks to all the staff at the VA medical center and Intermountain Hospital, as well as many friends who helped him through his trials and tribulations this past 6 months. Carl is preceded in death by grandmother, Carrie Tallon; father, James Ellis Funk; and brother-in-law, Randy Sanchez. Carl is survived by his mother, Katherine Funk; sisters, Brenda Herrera (Eloy) and Karen Sanchez; daughter, Kimberlee Hall (Biff); son, Travis Funk; grandchildren, Mackenzie Spaulding, Harrison Hall, Madeline, Victoria and Jenna Funk; nephews, Christopher Sanchez (Kimberly) and Kevin Herrera; and nieces, Brieanne Otto (John), Danielle Sanchez and Kasey Herrera. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13th at 3:00 p.m. at Summers Funeral Home, 1205 W. Bannock Street, Boise. Memorial graveside inurnment services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 15th at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Carl's honor to the Boise Rescue Mission.
