Cassandra Nelson Obituary

Cassandra "Cassie" Lyn Nelson
1981 ~ 2016
Cassandra "Cassie" Lyn Nelson, age 35, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016. Cassie unexpectedly went into full cardiac arrest on June 18, 2016, after suffering from either a spontaneous coronary artery dissection or a stress-induced cardiomyopathy, sometimes called "broken heart syndrome." Cassie clung to life for 12 days before passing away with her husband by her side.
Born April 28, 1981, Cassie is the daughter of Barbara Carlton Honn and the late Douglas Hugh Honn; beloved wife of Eric Frank Nelson and adoring mother of Scout Olivia Nelson; youngest and cherished sibling of Scott (Beth) Honn, Cortland (Robbie) Honn, Jason (Sheri) Honn, Amanda Honn Fuhriman, and Tyler (Tiffany) Honn; aunt to many treasured nieces and nephews.
Cassie grew up in Emmett, Idaho, where she loved the country landscape, open fields, rivers and canals. Friends and family, referring to her elegance, grace and beauty, dubbed her "the rose of Emmett." Also an incredible athlete, Cassie excelled in basketball, volleyball and softball.
Cassie graduated from BYU-Idaho, where she met her husband, Eric Nelson. They married August 20, 2003, in Boise, Idaho, and shared 13 extraordinary years of love and life together. They lived in Omaha, Nebraska; Washington, D.C.; and Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands. Cassie worked and excelled at web design. She volunteered countless hours as she served youth groups in both Saipan and Boise, and was loved by all she encountered and mentored. From Saipan, Cassie and Eric traveled to Tinian, Rota, Guam, Bali, Philippines, Japan, and Korea. Together, they also explored Greece, Italy, Croatia, Mexico, San Francisco, Idaho, and Arizona, while Cassie nurtured her budding photography hobby.
On October 27, 2012, after waiting more than eight years for a baby, Cassie finally assumed her most treasured role: mother to baby girl Scout, named after a favorite literary character.
With a raw talent and eye for beauty, Cassie was a self-taught and highly sought after natural light photographer, recently launching her own photography business, Linen and Lace Photography, in Boise, Idaho.
Memorial services include a viewing on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 5:30-8:00 p.m at Summers Funeral Home at 3629 E. Ustick Road, Meridian, ID, and a funeral service on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m at Chateau des Fleurs, 176 S. Rosebud Ln, Eagle, ID, immediately followed by a graveside service at Dry Creek Cemetery, 9600 Hill Rd., Boise, ID.
Our hearts are broken as we say goodbye, but we are thankful we had Cassie for 35 incredible, adventurous, and beautiful years. We hold out hope that our journeys in life will sail us back to her.

I can't explain the sadness I feel for your loss. I just heard about Cassie passing away via the beautiful article in the Idaho Statesman. She was a remarkably kind woman whom I had the pleasure of working with over the years. She was a patient and talented designer - and always quick to assist with updating my work designs. My heart is incredibly saddened for you all.
