David Sherrets Obituary

David passed away December 6 after a long illness. He was born August 2, 1963 in Salmon, Idaho to Harold (Bud) and Linda Sherrets. In 1971, the family moved to Grand Junction Colorado and returned to Boise in 1976. David graduated from Capital High School in 1981. He was a person of many gifts and talents. He was Vice President of the junior class, active in choir and drama and swam competitively on the Boise Y swim team. He also did modeling for Blanche Evans. He was always a free spirit, and an independent person. After high school he wanted to move to Seattle which he did and lived there for 17 years. He made numerous trips to Europe and worked in restaurants in Seattle. He was actively employed with several athletic clubs in the Seattle area where he creatively choreographed dance and music routines that were amazing. He brought healing to many who knew him there. He moved to Miami and then back to Seattle before returning to Boise. David loved the ocean and the mountains. He loved animals, especially cats, children and older folks who were kind to him. David experienced hard times but he truly was a survivor and he fought a hard fight till the end. His friends and family have learned so much from him about loving and accepting all persons who grace our paths. He truly was a unique soul. It was important to him to dress up many times with a sport coat, tie, dress shirt even when a homeless person. He said that he felt dignified and better about himself. David is survived by his brother, Brian, sister-in-law Loretta, nephew Colin, nieces, Harley and Cheyenne, (Challis, Idaho), Aunt Sherral, Uncle Jerry, (Springfield, Illinois), Cousin Deanna (Fisher, Indiana), Aunt Fay, Cousin Wayne, (Haines, Florida) and many cousins in Twin Falls, Idaho. His family wishes to express their gratitude to the many people who have shown kindness to him and to them; Dr. Roscoe and staff at Family Medical Clinic, St. Alphonsus, the Medical Unit at the Ada Co. Sheriff Dept., Hearts for Hospice, Valley View Life Care, Trinity Mission Care Center, the Homeless Shelters, Hillview United Methodist Church, Al-anon and friends and family. A Memorial service will be held at Hillview United Methodist Church, 8525 Ustick Rd., at 11 a.m., December 17. There will also be a Memorial of friends in Seattle at that time as well. All are welcome to join together for food and fellowship after. My memories of David from high school are of a young man with many gifts: kindness, sense of humor, intelligence, good looks, creativeness, and a zest for life. We had a great year in student council and shared a lot of laughter. I went to one of his aerobics classes years later in Seattle by accident, not knowing he was the instructor. He was awesome and totally in his element! I am so sorry for all the pain he suffered in the last years of his life. I am very thankful that he was blessed with such a loving family and friends who cared for him and shared the difficult journey with him. My prayers are with all of you.

Thank you for the beautiful tribute to David. That boy was the bright light of my Jr. High and High School years, a dear friend whose talent and charm I admired greatly. It was a heartbreak indeed to lose contact with him, more so to learn that his life had become so difficult. I send you prayers for comfort and peace, and all my love. I hold David in my thoughts as the precious, vivacious, delightful dear heart we all knew. With loving prayers, Kate (Naylor) Redmond.

Ahhhh Dave. Sweet kind one. Now you are at peace with the other angels. They are so lucky to have you with them. You always were too good for this world. Too wise. Too sensitive. You raised the bar for a lot of us. You carried a lot on your back. You held the hand of so many & let them lead you through their darkest fears while you witnessed. You were always generous that way. Or maybe it was your rite of passage. Probably some of both. I didn't know you were sick. Or maybe I missed the clues. I hope it was just me. I hope you didn't suffer in silence. Your smile & your laugh, especially your laugh are forever in my heart. You always had the best & the most infectious laugh. I love you dear friend. There is & will always be a part of you that lives with me. Kindred spirit. Sweet one. My heart breaks for your family. I have pictures of you that I would gladly share with them. Pictures of you in such happy times! Please contact me for more info. My deepest condolences to you all. You've suffered so much.
With so much love I can't even begin to express,

Bud, Linda, and Brian –

My family and I were saddened to hear about David’s passing but we know he is at rest in a better place. As your former next door neighbor I had the pleasure to spend lots of time with both David and Brian and the adventures with the Sherrets boys are some of my best childhood memories. David was an inspiration to me in my quest to master the choreography of aerobics. He had the best taste in music, and his routines were challenging, as well as, uplifting! I always left his classes on a high note. He was greatly missed when he left Pro-robics, just as he is missed now. It was my pleasure to know him. My condolences to all who knew him.

Our Dear Linda, Bud, Brian and family,

We grieve with you that our dear David has departed this earth. This is a bittersweet time. We thank the Lord that one day we will rejoice with David at the feet of Jesus.

David's obituary was a work of art. He would be honored. David's picture represents his cheery disposition...always a ready smile.

I have many fond memories of Dave from our years at Capital High School... working on service projects in Key Club, singing together in various choirs, and putting on crazy skits at school assemblies. He was a truly bright light and friend to everyone. We will honor his spirit when we gather for our 30-year class reunion this coming summer. He will be greatly missed.

Although I didn't know David as well as I know you, I know the feeling of losing a loved one all too well. We will all be together again the our next life. I'm confident David is much happier and is completely pain free.
