Dean Goff Obituary

Dean Goff 1950 ~ 2011 On November 30, 1950 Dean was born in Rigby, ID to Daisy Janet Hamilton Goff and Ray Wilburn Goff. He spent his younger years on the family farm in Paul, ID before moving to Walla Walla, WA and later Pocatello, ID where he graduated from Pocatello High School in 1969. After attending Idaho State University he moved to California briefly and then Boise, ID in 1973 where he met and married the love of his life Jill Crooker. They were married August 13, 1977. Their first son, Josh was born May 10, 1981 in Boise followed by their second son, Adam on September 13, 1989 in Boise. Dean worked for many years in road construction before finding his true passion in waterworks sales. At the time of his passing he was working for Ferguson Waterworks. He had a lot of great friends and customers throughout the northwest and was a top salesman in the company. His greatest love was his family. He coached his sons in all their sports when they were growing up, and never missed an opportunity to dispute a referee's call. He enjoyed the outdoors, travelling with his family, golfing with his sons, and attending every car show he could find. He drove well over a million miles in his career visiting customers (always with a box of doughnuts) and still found time to stop at pawn shops along the way. Dean also enjoyed working on projects in his garage, classic cars, motorcycles, and anything with an engine. He never missed an opportunity help out a member of the church and anyone in need. Dean was a dedicated member of the LDS church and had many callings. He made a lasting impression on everyone he met, he had an incredible sense of humor, and always loved to make people laugh. Dean passed away peacefully on September 1st at home with his family by his side, following a courageous sixteen month battle with stomach cancer. He never gave up and always kept a smile on his face. Dean wanted everyone to know how much he appreciated their prayers and support. Dean's family would also like to thank his friends at Ferguson Waterworks for their love and support and all of the wonderful and caring people at MSTI, especially Dr. Dan Zuckerman, Mary Beth, Pat, and all the other amazing nurses in the chemo suite. Their special caring and compassion made Dean's treatments as enjoyable as possible. Dean is survived by his wife of 34 wonderful years, Jill; his son, Josh, 30, (Hadley) of Boise; his son, Adam, 21, also of Boise; and his granddogs, Hulk and Macy. He is also survived by his father, Ray Goff; brother, Don (Lynelle); sister, Jill Walgamott (Keven); as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He is preceded in death by his mother, Janet Thomas; sister, Sheri Ann; and in-laws, Dean and Jean Hamilton. Dean has taken it out of drive, put it in F and flew to heaven. We love you Dad. Services will be held Wednesday September 7th at 12:00pm at the LDS Stake Center, 2290 Warm Springs Ave., Boise. A viewing will precede the service from 10:30-11:45. Burial will be at Morris Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain States Tumor Institute. Services are under the direction of Relyea Funeral Chapel. [email protected]

Dear Jill,Josh and Adam,
Roger and I are saddened to hear of your loss of Dean because we know what a hole it will leave in your life. It's a relief to know he isn't suffering any more, but it's almost unbearable to think of not being with him for an indefinite length of time. Time does eventually soften the blow and looking back often, through our memories, remembering the wonderful man he was and appreciate the time we had with him. I'll always remember his gentleness, quick smile, and the love he had for you, Josh and Adam. Please know that we are thinking of you and hoping that you will find comfort and peace as the days go by. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
With love,
