Diane Woog Obituary

Diane "Punks" A. Woog Jan. 8, 1938 - Aug. 1, 2011 Diane "Punks" A. Woog, 73, of Meridian, Idaho, passed away at her home on Monday, August 1, 2011 after a courageous battle with a brain tumor. Diane was surrounded by family and friends as she was reunited with her husband, Peter. Diane was born on January 08, 1938 in Washington, DC to the late Robert "Buck" Ewing and Noleoa "Tooties" Bishop. Diane grew up in Petaluma, California and graduated from Petaluma High School in 1955. She served in the Marine Corps for 4 years then married the love of her life, Peter Woog, in 1964. They raised their sons, David "Navy" and Robert "Robbie" Woog in Vista, California. Although Diane's dream was to become a dancer, she became a banker for Bank of America where she would constantly get in trouble for her endless loud laughter. She loved hand making the Halloween costumes for all of her co-workers. She retired after 32 years and shortly thereafter was devastated by the loss of "Peeto". She then filled her days with painting for which she had a tremendous talent. With the birth of her first grandsons, Peter and Connor, Diane moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to be a fulltime Grandma. She enjoyed taking the boys to the movies, libraries, parks, church, and on vacations. She moved to Meridian, Idaho in 2008 with the family and enjoyed volunteering at Ponderosa Elementary where she was named "Grandma D". She loved cheering on the boy's baseball team as well as the SD Chargers and Padres. Her 3rd grandson, Ethan, was born last year. Diane was the matriarch of the family with endless energy, a wild loud laugh, a crooked smile, love of polka dots, TCBY, animals, the legs of a 20 year old and the ability to make lifelong friends. She took great care of herself and loved dressing nice. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Katherine, and half-brother Brad. Diane is survived by her sons David (Jennifer) Woog of Vista, CA., Robert (Lisa) Woog of Meridian, ID.; grandsons Peter, Connor, and Ethan Woog; sisters Paula (John) King of Henderson, NV, Bonnie (David) Simon of Raleigh, NC and several nieces and nephews. Diane's life was about laughing, giving, and good red wine. A celebration of life will be held later this month.

I am sittting here in shock. I had no idea that my friend had died. I spoke with her not too long ago and was just wondering why I had not heard from her lately. I had just said to Ken about a week ago that i needed to call her and was surprised she hadn't call about his battle with cancer. Little did we know!
I will miss her so much. Our lives were more joyful with her in it. My only consolation is that she is reunited with Pete.

Was just looking up the address to the boys and Diane. In shock to hear and see that our precious Diane passed away. Sorry to see this on internet and not hear from the boys this sad news. Our heart goes out to all of you.
We were so blessed to have your mother in our family and lives. She had a great smile and her laugh brightened up the room when she came in. Please keep us informed on the family and we hope and pray that you are all well.

Diane my beautiful friend, you were such an unbelievably extrordinary woman who made the world a better place. You touched the lives of so many with your laughter, your smile and your genuine live of life. Even though you have left your oh so short journey here on earth, your journey will now continue with those you loved so much, the love of your life, Peter and those friend and family who have passed before you. Including your beloved four pawed companion, Tazzie. I will never forget the day you called me heartbroken with the news that you had to put him to rest.

I feel so blessed to have know you and had the opportunity to share some remarkable times togethet. The dinners, with the best food and wine (red of course), our trips to Gilleys, Sam's Town or anyplace else Robbie was playing. Your joy and excitement watching and listening to the band.

You were always there for me and I couldn't have dreamed in my wildest dreams what a friend you were to me and I don't think I ever thanked you enough. Thank you so much with all my heart! I know you would not want any of us to cry by your passing, but the tears have been shed and will contine to be shed, you meant a great deal to so many of us.

To your family, Robbie, Lisa Peter, Connor, David, Jen and Ethan, I can only say after loosing both of my parents, time heals the pain. You will never forget her and there will be times that you will feel sad and a great sense of loss all over again. But as time goes on the hurt gets easier. Just remember all the happy times you shared and smile for Diane, knowing that she loved you all so much!

I bid you a farewell!

I am very honored to have known such a wonderful woman, who was tough as nails til the end, but at the same time you were a huge teddy bear when it came to the people you loved. Dear Diane Woog Family,
My heart goes out to each one of you! I, too, loved Diane. She was such a force in my life.. Some of my very best memories are tied to the "Dinner Club" we belonged to for years with Diane and Peter. Diane and Pete, along with about four other couples started this Dinner Club that evolved over the years with many friends. We drank, laughed and loved excessively!
So, I raise my glass in honor of our Diane! Cheers, Anna xoxo
