Dirk Walker Obituary

Dirk Albert Walker Dirk Albert Walker 31, of Horseshoe Bend died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at Horseshoe Bend. Dirk was born March 11, 1977 at Emmett, Idaho to Rod and Karrie Walker. He was raised and educated in Emmett, attending the Letha and Hanna Schools and graduating from Emmett High School in 1995. After high school Dirk went to work in the woods logging, first on the ground bumping knots, running skidder, and then as a faller. He spent some time as a timber faller in Alaska working under helicopters. In about 2003 he began driving logging truck like his dad, owning his own truck. For several years, starting in high school, Dirk rode rodeo bulls. He also had developed a real talent for working with wood, creating rustic furniture from juniper while living in Grandview, Idaho and carving intricate mantles and other architectural items out of tamarack with his chainsaw. Dirk was an avid sportsman. He began fishing and hunting with his dad, grandpa, and brother when he was just a toddler. He had a real passion that he shared with his son, Wyatt, for hunting trophy mule deer. Dirk's greatest joy and achievement was his four kids, Lacey, Wyatt, Cody and Tanner. He loved taking them on outings to go snow sledding, swimming at Roaring Springs, or to play games at Pojo's. They all enjoyed going hiking and looking for arrowheads, fishing and target shooting together. Survivors include his daughter, Lacey Walker, who had been living with him, his sons, Wyatt, Cody and Tanner Walker of Caldwell, parents, Rod and Karrie Walker of Emmett, sister, Lori (Luis) Coniglio of Virginia, brother, Brett (Aida) Walker of Emmett, maternal grandparents, Jack and Barbara Hansen of Emmett, paternal grandparents, Dan and Ora Ellis of Emmett, niece Victoria Coniglio, and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. Pallbearers will be some of Dirk's closest friends, Zack Lillibridge, Troy Cunnington, Shane Hatfield, John Sam Hatfield, Scott Brown, Jason Brown, and Ryan McRoberts. A viewing will be available for family and friends on Monday, October 6, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett, Idaho. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008 at the Potter Funeral Chapel followed by internment at Emmett Cemetery.
