Donald Honey Obituary

Donald Dawayne Honey, 74, of Weiser, died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at home of natural causes. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at 3:30 p.m., at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Weiser, Idaho, with Pastor R. Wayne Eklund officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. Don was born April 10, 1931 to Adin Snow Honey and Frances Shaul Honey, at his grandparents´ home in Apple Valley, west of Parma. He lived in Cambridge, Idaho while in grades 1-3. With his parents being Assembly of God ministers, they pioneered the first Assembly of God Church in Cambridge, and also served in Roy, Idaho; Loon Lake, Wash.; Nyssa, Ore.; and Marsing, Idaho. Don returned to Roy, and then went to Boise Junior College, and got his GED, passing with an above national average grade. Don married Sylvia Earlene Whitten in 1949, and they had three beautiful daughters, Karen Earlene, Susan Myree, and Sylvia Geniece, born to this union. This marriage ended in 1955. Don had various occupations, the main one being a line driver working for Browning Freight Lines and retiring from Roadway Express. He also worked in Seattle for 1 1/2 years for Boeing as a journeyman machinist, repairing all kinds of office machines, which enabled him to have security clearance everywhere in the plant. Don married Jo-Ann Steele (Trostel) in 1958. They lived in Boise, until Don retired in 1993. They moved to Weiser, Idaho and joined the Assembly of God Church, where they found a wonderful church family. Don used his talents in many ways, such as; remodelling work, painting the outside of the church, playing in the orchestra, singing special numbers, and was the church secretary/treasurer until his health wouldn´t allow him to do it anymore. Don and Jo enjoyed having a motor home for a few years, the highlight of which was a trip to Louisville, Ky., for the 40th National Quartet Convention. Don is survived by his wife, Jo-Ann ÒLittle Jo,Ó of Weiser; daughters, Karen (Charles) Naylor, of Salem, Ore., Susan Thomas, of Caldwell, Idaho, and Sylvia Geniece Honey, of Boise, Idaho; a brother, Carol (Ellen) Honey, of Ontario, Calif.; a sister, Ramona (Everett) Maerz, of Caldwell, Idaho; an aunt, Ada Belle Geesey, of Anchorage, Alaska; five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, and numerous special nieces, nephews and cousins. Don was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and two brothers, Albert and Steve. Memorials may be made to the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church Building Fund, or to Pathway Hospice of Ontario, Oregon.

Lowell & Barbara Browning

April 3, 2006

We express our deepest sympathy to the family during this time of sorrow. Don held the number one position on the seniority roster at Browning Freight Lines in Boise. In addition to being a line driver at one time he was a supervisor on the dock. Don was very dependable. He knew how to work. He made the work place a cleaner place because of his work ethics. If there was ever any idle time no one had to tell him what to do because he would get the broom or a rake and put them to work. At Christmas time our first Christmas card was from the Honey family. We share with you the assurance of a resurrection through the atonement of our Savior.

Sincerely, Lowell and Barbara Browning and family Brent, Reed, Bruce, Sharon, Scott, Stan
