Doris E. Boyce
1927-2017
Doris Boyce, of Boise, Idaho, 89 years of age, passed away on January 19, 2017 at Garnet Assisted Living in Boise, Idaho. She was born October 17, 1927 in Cortland, Nebraska, to Elmer and Anna (DeVries) Balderson, the fifth of five children. She started school at the age of 4 at the rural District 64 "Balderson School" and graduated from Cortland High at age 16.
Doris married Clarence Lyle Boyce, Jr., September 21, 1946. Together, they had four children. They were later divorced.
Mom was an avid quilter, loved to crochet beautiful doilies and was an amazing cook, enjoyed reading and always had an immaculate yard and garden. She adored her grandchildren, Jason, Ryan, and Jamie and great grandchildren, Aiden, Jack and Sam. Mom was especially fond of her sister-in-law Bonnie Boyce, who was like a sister, and her good friend for many years. Norma Haines, next door neighbor was also a dear friend who watched over our mom until she moved into assisted living.
Doris is survived by children, James Boyce of Boise, Sue Hexum of Boise, Michael Boyce of Oregon and Patricia and husband Mark Cembalisty of Boise.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert, Gerald, Lloyd, sister, Letha Hilgenkamp and her pug, Olivia, who was her cherished companion for 11 years.
There will be no memorial service. Cremation at Cloverdale. Special thanks to Garnet Assisted Living Staff and Keystone Hospice for all their care and support given to our beloved mom and her family. Donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
