Dorothy Irene Christensen

Dorothy Irene (Glover) Christensen Dorothy Irene (Glover) Christensen died Sunday, July 6, 2008 after suffering a stroke. She spent her last week in Robert and Stephany Hewison's home under the loving care of her daughter Stephany, with all of Dorothy's children nearby. Dorothy's life began on Feb. 3, 1926 at Forest Grove, Ore. Her parents (both deceased) Dempsey and Bessie Glover raised their seven children in Oregon. The two remaining siblings are Ruby Lucas of Washington, and Roy Glover of South Carolina. As a young adult, Dorothy began working for Safeway Stores in Oregon and found her way to Boise in 1944. She married Virgil Christensen (deceased) in 1946 and continued to work and raise four young children. Dorothy and Virgil built their house in the North End and lived their lives with their children in that home, her home, yard and flowers gave her the greatest pleasure later in life, as she come from meager beginnings and appreciated what she had accomplished. Dorothy always had a helping hand for someone in need. In 1966, she took that caring spirit and returned to school to earn her nursing license. She spent the next 23 years, retiring in 1988, working for St. Luke's Hospital and truly caring about and for those under her care. She is survived by her four children: Sandra (Marshall) Stevens, Stephany (Robert) Hewison, Robert and Steven Christensen, all of Boise. She leaves her legacy of eight wonderful grandchildren and seven aspiring great-grandkids. "GG", you will be missed, but your love and caring will forever be etched in our hearts, in addition to several commemorative stonework in the community. At her request, no services will be held. In her honor, she would want you to remember her by giving a helping hand to someone less fortunate. Arrangements are under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home.
