Edward Hollenbeck Obituary

Edward M. Hollenbeck
1919 ~ 2014
Edward M. Hollenbeck was born in Heyburn, Idaho on September 2, 1919. He passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014 of natural causes. Ed is survived by his daughter and son-in-law. As a youngster Ed worked hard on his dad's farm in Heyburn, where he developed a strong work ethic, good sense of humor, and a penchant for getting in as much mischief as possible! However, he couldn't wait to get off of the farm. It was in his early teens that Ed developed his love of cars. On Sundays he went to Christian Endeavor so that he could drive a car and meet up with a girl named Evelyn who would eventually become his wife. The two were married in 1942 and Ed was a loving and faithful husband for 66 years until Evelyn passed away in 2008.
Ed spent his years attending to his passion of driving, refurbishing, and selling cars, trucks, motorhomes - anything with wheels. With a thoroughly charismatic and charming personality he was loved by every single person he met and as a business person optimistically looked for the win - win situation in every transaction. Eventually Ed started buying and trading real estate, and developing properties soon turned out to be another of his fortes. Ed enjoyed going out with his "coffee buddies" just about every morning before making the rounds to keep tabs on his properties and to check out whatever car, motorhome, or boat caught his eye. Nevertheless he enjoyed spending time with his family. Every winter he would drive with Evie in their motorhome to some location down south, where often his daughter and son in law would meet up for a week or two, spending hours on end relaxing in the lawn chair, gazing at the stars or cacti, always planning his next big move.
Ed really appreciated all his friends who took the time to call or visit. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
A memorial service will be held at Relyea Funeral Home, 318 N. Latah St, Boise, on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 10:30 am.
