Edward Liddiard Obituary

Edward P. Liddiard
1937 ~ 2013
After a lengthy illness, Edward P. Liddiard, Sr., 75, of Meridian, Idaho, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013, in a Boise hospital.
Ed was born on June 12, 1937, in Boise, Idaho, the oldest child of Kenneth Liddiard and Helen Racey Liddiard. He had two younger sisters, Ruth and Sylvia. He grew up in Atlanta, Idaho, and attended a one-room school there. He attended high school in Baker, Oregon.
Ed joined the Army in 1955 at Fort Carson, Colorado, with an honorable discharge at Fort Carson Colorado in 1979. He had many duties while in the Army, including ski patrol at Fort Carson, where he broke his leg and never skied again. He also served as an Army recruiter in Montana. He served at Fort Hood, Texas, Fort Benning, Georgia and in Germany and Korea.
Ed married Judith Williams in 1964 and they had three children: Edwina, Edward Jr., and Kenneth. They were later divorced.
After discharge from the Army, Ed worked for Morrison Knudsen in their railroad division. After working for MK, he went to work for the Veterans Administration in supplies. He retired from the VA in 1989, after suffering a heart attack while at work in the VA in 1988. He was transported to Portland, Oregon, for heart surgery.
Ed was a Third Degree Mason and a Shriner. He was in the Mounted Patrol for a time, in the Cameleers and in the Greeters Units. He served as President of the Greeters at one time. One of his greatest joys was the fact that two of his nieces were treated at the Shriners Hospitals.
On February 5, 1994, Ed married Anita Springer McCormick in Boise, Idaho. This marriage brought 4 step-children into Ed's life, Debby Dudley, Russ McCormick (Becky), Clint McCormick (Sally), and Brenda Davis (Mike). Over the next several years he was also provided with a dozen step-grandchildren, some of whom had Ed as their only grandpa. And even later, Ed and Anita were blessed with 9 great-grandchildren.
Ed and Anita had a wonderful marriage and shared many good times. They went on many memorable trips with the Shriners, including cruises to Alaska and Hawaii. They also loved going to the Oregon Coast. After Anita's retirement in 1998, they played golf practically every Monday in good weather with their good friends, Sue and Tom Kober.
Ed is survived by his wife, Anita; two sons, Ken and Ed, Jr.; and a daughter, Edwina; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Ruth Neddo (Parke), and Sylvia Batie (Don); his 4 step-children; 12 step-grandchildren; and 9 step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Liddiard; and his mother, Helen Racey Liddiard.
Over several years of heart and kidney health problems, Ed has had wonderful doctors, his cardiologist, Dr. Parent and his nephrologist, Dr. Mallea, and also an exceptional dialysis nurse, Mary Robinson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Summers Funeral Homes, 3629 E. Ustick Road, Meridian. Inurnment will be Monday, February 4 at 11:00 a.m. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
