Edward Yoctorowic Obituary

Edward Ben Yoctorowic
1931 - 2015
Edward Ben Yoctorowic, age 83, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015 at home in New Plymouth, Idaho. Memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel in New Plymouth, Idaho. Condolences may be made to Edward's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel in New Plymouth, ID.
He was born September 9, 1931 in Alma, Montana to Edward and Muriel Yoctorowic. He was the sixth of ten children, 6 girls and 4 boys.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings, one grandson, Hoss Alley, and one great-grandson, Colton Mackey.
Ben was a decorated US Army veteran and served in the Korean War. He received a Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal, UN Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.
In October of 1955, after a tour in Korea, he married the love of his life, Faye Dickerson.
Early in their marriage, Ben worked many different construction jobs throughout the Western states. Ben and Faye eventually settled in New Plymouth, where they raised 5 daughters. In 1974, they purchased the farmland where they lived ever since.
They were dairymen until they finally sold their herd and retired from active dairy farming in 1994. They then started raising and breeding American Paint Horses. Ben also loved to study bloodlines and lineage, as well as share his knowledge with anyone who asked. He took great pride in teaching his children and grandchildren about the qualities of a well-bred horse. He enjoyed traveling to horse sales and going to farm auctions. When he wasn't busy with his horses, he could always be found tinkering with or working on something outside on the farm.
He devoted his time to his daughters and volunteered with them in the local 4H program. He was kind and would always stop and answer a question or solve a problem.
Ben was a devoted husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather. He could always be found outside giving a tractor ride to one (or many) of his grandkids. His grandchildren and great grandchildren made his eyes sparkle. He will be remembered by his family for his sense of humor and a way of saying things that could make you laugh on your worst day.
Ben is survived by his wife of 59 years, Faye Yoctorowic; five daughters, Teresa Martin, Debra Youren, Kathy Mackey (Tim King), Sandy (Cal) Wilson, and Carma Yoctorowic.
He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, Stephanie Brannan, Bo Mackey, Buster Alley, Zac Mackey, Calley Shartzer, Sami Eggebeen, Nichole Erickson, Mandy Wilson, Tony Parsons, Jake Parsons, Kidd Youren, Harry Youren, and Keegan King as well as by twelve great-grandchildren, Taylor Mackey, Kaleb Shartzer, Madelyn Erickson, Sydney Brannan, Wyatt Erickson, Kayson Parsons, Morgan Shartzer, Braxtyn Parsons, Payton Erickson, Drew Brannan, J.D. Eggebeen and James Eggebeen. In addition to the twelve, there is a set of twins on the way!
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the New Plymouth Senior Citizen's Center in care of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel P.O. Box 730 Payette, Idaho 83661.
