Elnora Hutchings Obituary

Elnora Hutchings Elnora Hutchings, 82, of Meridian, passed away on Monday, Jan. 21, 2008 at her home in Meridian, Idaho. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today, Friday, Jan. 25, 2008 at Meridian Church of God Seventh Day, 1808 W. 3rd. Burial will follow at Cloverdale Memorial Park in Boise. Elnora was born on June 1, 1925 in Fairview, Okla., a daughter of Harvey and Mabel Sheffield Estep. She graduated from Meridian High School in 1943. She married her high school sweetheart, William "Bill" Hutchings on April 29, 1944 in Boise. They lived in the Treasure Valley for most of the 63 years they were married, raising a family of four children. Elnora was a full-time homemaker, but enjoyed many other hobbies and interests as well: 4-H, music, gardening, sewing, and quilting. She was member of the Church of God, 7th Day, Sub-Vets-W.W. II, and was also active in numerous community service organizations throughout her life. Her greatest, joy, however, was her home and her family; she welcomed each new in-law and every new baby with enthusiasm and joy. Over the past 25 years, until she was no longer able to sew, her high school graduation gift to each grandchild was a handmade quilt. But, the most valuable gift she gave to her family was her example of faith, commitment, love, and service to her Savior Jesus Christ. Her fervent desire for each one was to see them again in heaven; and for that, she and Bill prayed earnestly every day for many years. Elnora was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, who died in April, 2007, by her parents Harvey and Mabel Estep, brothers Arthur and Everet Estep, sisters Pauline Estep, Helen Palmer, and her twin, Lenora Cushing. She was also preceded in death by twin great-granddaughters Sarah Rose and Leah Brianne Noel. She is survived by three daughters; Charlene Walker of Twin Falls, Idaho, Donna (Gary) Bratt, and Lorraine (Lloyd) Kennedy, of Meridian, one son, Wayne (Theresa) Hutchings, of Boise, Idaho, one brother, Allen Estep of Vancouver, Wash., one sister, Opal Coulson, of Meridian; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. "MOTHER" truly is another name for Love.

I remember calling Aunt Elnora one day in 1990...I had to describe exactly how I was related to her through my Grandfather Arthur Estep. I explained that I was doing family history and that I'd like to meet her....she was so excited...invited me in....and we sat with Lenora and a couple of their friends....Shared stories...and took several pictures. It was a WONDERFUL day! She was so incredibly sweet!!!!! She will be missed so much!!!!! But, Oh how much sweeter Heaven is today!!!!
