Eric Deschamps Obituary

Eric Deschamps
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart we say goodbye to a dear son, brother, and the best of friend, Eric Deschamps. Eric was passionate about the outdoors, he loved to take people water skiing, rock climbing, and showed compassion to everyone around him. Eric grew up in Boise, ID and at the age of five, he lost his father. Eric had a keen ability to tell a story and a zest for traveling. Everyone knew he had a kindred love for his chocolate labs, Hershey, and most recently, Moose. He explored the world with a keen sense of adventure and yet always called Idaho home. He loved to travel with his dogs and it never slowed him down even if it meant sneaking them into fancy hotels. While living and growing up in Boise, Eric also enjoyed motocross and for years raced at Owyhee Motorcycle Club.
During high school he owned and operated his own auto body shop, E.D.M., and for years he ran a very successful business. Auto body work was easy for Eric and he was great at it. Many friends can attest to his ability to fix a dent after a weekend fender bender in mom or dad's car. In 1987, Eric graduated from Capital High School.
In 2013, Eric moved to McCall to work at Quaker Hill Camp and Conference Center, and most recently with Shore Lodge working in member services. Along with his love for the outdoors, he sincerely enjoyed helping people and he had a knack for making friends. His heart was huge and his smile was infectious. Once you met him it wouldn't take long before he would treat you like a long lost friend.
Eric loved his mother (Sharon) and sister (Angela), adored his niece (Nicole) and nephew (Matthew). He missed his father (Jerry) and grandmother (Ruth) terribly. Eric's world revolved around his family. Words cannot describe the way he felt about his family or the way he would "glow" when he talked about them.
Eric had a huge heart and was one of the most compassionate souls you could have met. He was loved greatly and is missed by many. Born Nov 5 1968, Died July 1, 2016 He is survived by his Mother-Sharon Deschamps, Sister-Angela Oddonetto, Niece-Nicole Oddonetto, Nephew- Matthew Oddonetto, Cousins-Randy Deschamps, Tony Deschamps and Sue Deschamps Williams. He was preceded in death by his Father-Jerry Deschamps and Grandmother Ruth.
A celebration of Eric's life will be held at Quaker Hill Camp and Conference Center, 1440 Warren Wagon Road in McCall ID on Sunday the 24th at 5:00pm.

Eric was such a wonderful person. My contact with him has been sporadic over the years but I had been in contact with him a number of times the past couple months. I am very thankful for that. Eric lived with our family for a time when we were young. Mom and dad could never figure out why the power bill was tripled when he was there. Eric was always tinkering with things. Lol. Who knows what he was up too.
Eric will be dearly missed.
I love you My friend

He was a brother to me and a second son to my father, Bob. I'm not sure how long I knew Eric--over 30 years. We had many adventures together and he had the best heart and ability to make anyone laugh. We struggled together at times but seamed to always find a renewed path. Over the last few years our contact was sporadic and for this I am broken. We were to meet for lunch a few months ago but I was "too busy". For this I feel sorrow and woe. Eric was taken too early and will be missed by many.

I first meat Eric when we were kids. I knew him all through school. Not one semester went by when I didn't share at least one class with him. He had such presence whenever I saw him in a new class I made it a point to sit with him, be lab partners, or shop-mates. We were fast friends for years until I left for the military. I miss him dearly and I will always hold him close in my heart.

I'll see you again some day my friend, God Speed. My love and prayers for you and your family. Your friend, Chris
