Eric Winans Obituary

Eric Paul Winans
April 19, 1965 - July 29, 2022
Boise, Idaho -
At 11:11 AM on Friday, July 29, 2022, Eric Paul Winans, of Boise, Idaho passed away after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family who vowed to continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest and continuing to make more memories like the many they share with Eric. He was born on April 19, 1965 in Alton, Illinois, son of the late Glen and Dorothyann Winans.
Eric moved with his family to Connecticut at the age of 4, lived there until the age of 13 when they moved to Idaho, planted roots, and enjoyed the rest of his life. After graduating from Meridian High School he attended The University of Idaho where he was a proud member of the SAE Fraternity and made many lifelong friends. During high school and college Eric helped his father run the family business making countless sacrifices for his parents and seven siblings. Eric graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting and started his career at Pretzel Time. In 1997 Eric began working at Wright Brothers The Building Company, where he thrived for the rest of his career. At Wright Brothers, Eric found true belonging, commitment, and partnership with the company of his dreams. In 2019 Zach Higgins, Trevor Wright, Mandi Wright, Robert Grubb and Eric fulfilled a dream of owning Wright Brothers and forged a bond that Eric treasured. He respected and loved his partners and all of their employees.
On July 15, 2000, he married the love of his life, Cyndi, and they enjoyed 22 years together. Although she loved everything about him, she admired his integrity and honesty most of all. They raised two amazing children, Matthew (20) and Emily (18), who are the pride and joy of their lives. Matthew is entering his third year at Boise State this fall following in his father's footsteps in accounting and finance while Emily is starting her freshman year, also at Boise State interested in Biology and Veterinary studies. They each show a great compassion for others, sharing, and practicing what their parents instilled in their upbringing.
Eric was artistic and had a talent for drawing and painting. He was known for his forthright nature and positive attitude. He had a passion for golf and enjoyed many trips with his Wright Brothers family, golf league buddies, and friends. He enjoyed golf/spa trips with Matt, Emily, and Cyndi. They also enjoyed camping trips with their camping friends to the Oregon Coast, Glacier, and many, many more places. Eric and Cyndi loved to travel to Vegas with dear friends and the many wonderful trips with their work family. They enjoyed trips to Walla Walla with friends who enjoyed fine wine as much as they did. But most of all he loved creating memories with Cyndi, Matt and Emily at Disney World.
Simple pleasures in life brought joy to Eric. He loved to collaborate, plan, and share. Be it recipes, camping spots, Disney tips and tricks or anything to help others enjoy their adventures. Everything Eric did was to help others enjoy their time spent. He also loved a quiet evening on the patio with friends and family with a glass of wine in hand. When he got the news that he was sick instead of saying "Why me?" Eric decided to live life to its fullest by continually creating the best possible memories with his family, loving each other to the fullest and experiencing many more adventures and activities that created a closeness that is witnessed by all and will continue in his honor by his family and many who admired and loved him.
He is survived by his wife Cyndi, son Matthew, and daughter Emily. He is also survived by his 7 siblings, G.R. (Judy) Winans , Carla (Fred) Senkbeil, Nick Winans, David (Lindsay) Winans, Beth (Todd) Bindner, Marty Frederick, and Daniel (Mandy) Winans, as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Richard Winans and his mother, DorothyAnn Grace Marty Winans.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August, 4, 2022 at Holy Apostles Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to be made to the Lungevity Foundation (www.lungevity.org),

What a beautiful, inspiring man! Can't tell you how many times he stopped what he was focused on to help me ferret out an issue with an excel spreadsheet, all with a smile on his face and the patience of a Saint!! I will always remember his refereeing our Poker parties at WB's. Oh how he made us laugh!! Thank you for being you, Eric. You made such a difference in our lives! You will be missed.
