Garold Elston Obituary

Garold Elston Garold Elston, Sr., 68, of Weiser, passed away Tuesday May 29, 2007 at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Funeral Services will be held Friday June 1, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Thomason Funeral Home in Weiser, with interment to follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Payette. Garold was born on Nov. 24, 1938 in Parma, Idaho, the son of the late William and Nora Elston. Garold proudly served his country in both the Idaho National Guard and the U.S. Navy, where he spent time on the USS Ticondaroga and the USS Midway. After serving his country, Garold worked many years for both Albertson's and M&W supermarkets as a store manager. After leaving the supermarket business, he worked for Clover Club as a route driver for many years as well. In 1986 he relocated to Mesa Ariz. and retired in 2001 after 10 years of work for Bank of America as Vice President of ATM operations. In 2000 Garold and his wife Georgia moved to Weiser from Mesa Ariz., where they enjoyed retirement. He was very passionate about keeping in touch with his family and friends. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed being outdoors. Garold is survived by his wife, Georgia; children, Garold Elston, Jr. and his wife Linda of Rosemont, Calif., Dirk Elston and his wife Lucinda of Boston, Mass., Deborah LaBasco and Family of Buffalo, N.Y., Tim Shirey and his wife Leesa of San Diego, Calif., Mark Shirey and his wife Cheryl of Boise, Idaho; mother-in-law, Jean Rutkowski of Fairfield, Fla., He also had many loving grandchildren and great- grandchildren. His siblings include, Betty Stevenson of Huntington, Ore., Jack Elston of Vancouver, Wash., Alice Brower of Hayburn, Idaho, Florence Larson of Boise, ID., many nieces and nephews; Charlie and Nikki, his loyal canine companions. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Garold's memory to Heart n Home Hospice Foundation, 1401 N. Whitley Dr, Suite 16, Fruitland, Idaho 83619, or Mountain States Tumor Institute Fruitland, 1118 NW 16th St. Ste D, Fruitland, ID 83619. The family wishes to honor the wonderful people, friends and caregivers that we met during this journey as well as those who helped and cared for him over the last several years.

Dear Georgia and family,

I am of the Class of "57, and want to send my love and concern to you at this time.

I was unable to be in Weiser for the funeral, and do regret it.

Garold was special and a much needed help at times, since he was doing the Class of "57

e -mail and updates on all of us over the years.

May God bless and give you peace in the upcoming days.

God is Good. May He bring you His never ending Comfort.
