Gary Capps Obituary

Gary Russell Capps 1948 - 2011 Gary passed away on September 14, 2011 in Salt Lake City while on a business assignment. Gary was born to Russell and Evelyn Capps on June 4, 1948 in Nampa, Idaho. He is survived by his wife, Donna, one son, Matthew and one daughter, Bobbie and four grandchildren. A grandchild and both parents preceded him in death. He had one half-brother, Richard (Dick) True who resides in Salt Lake City, Utah. Gary resided most of his early years in Caldwell and later in Boise where he graduated from Capitol High School in 1967. He joined the Navy and served honorably for 10 years as an aviation hydraulics technician with a photo squadron on several aircraft carriers. He traveled the world and served 3 tours of duty in Viet Nam. After his discharge from the Navy he worked for Idaho Power Company in Boise where his dad had worked for 45 years. After 20 years at Idaho Power he went to work for HDW, a supplier of underground fault locating equipment used by power companies to trouble-shoot underground electrical problems. Gary was a master electrician with a great knowledge of issues regarding electrical power lines and methods of finding and resolving problems. He was in great demand from power companies through out the west to provide the equipment and expertise in solving their underground power problems. Gary designed and made many tools to assist in this endeavor. Gary was 100% an American and loved his country greatly. He had many friends and associates through out the country from his many years of traveling and serving his country. He was highly knowledgeable about fire arms and spent much of his spar time modifying and shooting them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A memorial will be held in his honor on Sept. 29, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 N. Horshoe Bend Rd, Boise, ID 83714. I will miss this man greatly. We
have been good friends since about the fifth grade. He had strong feelings for his country, family and his friends. He was also great at expressing his thoughts. I never met anyone more proud of his country and flag. He might of led us into mischief but he was always right beside you when you got caught. He was loyal and loving to anyone who was blessed to cross his path. He was full of it and always made us smile. He loved life and had a huge heart. I will miss him forever. True friends are hard to find.

Dear Donna and Family,
It's very sad news to hear that Gary, your soul mate, father, grandfather and friend, has passed. I only met Gary once when you came to the Bay Area, but I remember him as a very nice man. From his obituary, many, many people felt the same way, too. And what an interesting life he had! My heart and thoughts are with you all during this time and the months and years ahead. Be well, treasure the memories and the love... from Gary... and for each other.

Dearest Donna and Family: Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this transition in your life and we will remember Gary as a Celebration of Life. It is only when we drink from the river of silence that we indeed sing. When we have reached the mountain top, then we shall begin to climb. When the earth has claimed our limbs, then shall we truly dance. We shall always have fond memories of Gary and our gatherings at Camp Freeman. Gary was a real trooper and he mastered the talent of making everyone laugh. We send our Love, Sam and Leona

Donna and Family,
The time I spent with both you and Gary is one of my fondest memories, and I will surely miss Gary's email banter. I still grin when I think about Gary and Henning having "discussions" with each other.
I sure miss my days working with Gary and the crew at HDW in Bethlehem, PA.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
