Geneva Kelly Obituary

Geneva Colegrove Kelly, beautiful and beloved, died from cancer July 14, 2010. She was 87. Her daughter, granddaughter and grandson were with her. She died in the lovely home of her niece, Phyllis Weeks Beary. Geneva (Ginnie) moved with her family from Missouri to Idaho when she was a young girl, and here she stayed. She lived in Lewiston from the thirties to mid-sixties. She married Johnny Geidl in 1938, and had her only child two years later. She raised her daughter alone. She worked for Potlatch Forest Company, The Vogue, and the Renee's Dress Shoppe. In the late 1950's, she married Don Wolf who was killed in a plane crash in the early 1960's. She was married to and divorced from Tony Kelly. When she moved to Boise, she managed apartments for twenty years until her retirement. Gardening then became a favorite activity as evidenced by the lush rose beds at her home for seventeen years on Cloud Nine. Especially prominent is the Peace Rose, her favorite. She was the youngest daughter of Arabelle and Charles Colegrove. They preceded her in death as did her eldest brother Richard, and her baby brother, Cecil. She is survived by her eldest and favorite sister, Orpha DeLong Plett of La Grande, Ore., Florence Simmons of Boise, Idaho and Reta Karshan of Las Vegas, Nev. She also leaves behind her only child, Judith Geidl Allan; granddaughter, Stefani Quane; and grandson, Chas Allan III who are grateful to have had her for so many years. Geneva also leaves a host of friends, and especially her great and grand friend Kirsten Peterson. In memory of Geneva, her "kids" will host a luncheon for her favorite ladies. Some of these ladies and Geneva have had standing lunch dates for decades. Democrats were welcome friends as well, as were Republicans-she just took longer in warming up to them, and she never ceased in trying to win them over to her political views. Her favorite democrat was John Kopp. In lieu of flowers, we suggest donating to Legacy Hospice, a compassionate and caring organization, planting a Peace rose in her name, or taking a friend to lunch. Geneva has been cremated, and she requested no service be held. Mom, you loved us fiercely, taught us much, and filled our lives with joy. How we, and all your friends, will miss you!
