Harold Croy Obituary

Harold V. Croy
1927 - 2018
Harold Vincent Croy, 91, of Nampa, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018 after a short stay in a local care facility. He was born in Boise on January 17, 1927 to Wesley and Margaret Croy although the family lived in the railroad town of Hammett at the time.
The family moved to Nampa when Harold was six years old. He was the third of five children with a sister Frances and brothers John, Robert and Leonard.
Harold grew up attending St. Paul's Catholic Church and Nampa High School. When he was 17, while still in high school, He joined the U.S. Navy and served 2 years. When he returned home, he finished high school in 1947. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950 and served 4 years, working as an aircraft mechanic. During that time, he was part of the crew that started Mountain Home Air Force Base. After being honorable discharged he returned home and worked at the PFE shops. He also met Louise Urizar that year and they married in September of 1954, but the military life kept calling him back and he joined the Idaho Air National Guard in 1955 where he served more than 28 years. While in the Air Guard at Gowen Field, he worked as an aircraft mechanic and crew chief on the flight line. He was a master sergeant. He was credited with more than 36 years of total military service when he retired in 1982.
After retirement, Harold took up golf. He was also very much a people person and would stop and talk whenever possible to friends and new acquaintances, telling stories spanning many years. His memory of his life and of the history of Nampa and this valley was truly amazing.
A big part of his retirement years was playing golf with the seniors every week at Centennial golf course in Nampa. He was also part of the group of local citizens that built Centennial. He was still playing regularly up to a year ago. He was also a proud member of the Nampa Elks Lodge for 54 years.
He and Louise also enjoyed trips to visit some of his brothers as he, Robert and Leonard spent some trips in Las Vegas, Reno and Jackpot. Although he was not much on gambling, he liked playing Keno and enjoyed the company of his family. His children were still dragging him to Jackpot during the past few years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Louise; his younger brother, Robert; and his children, Theresa, Rick and Mark. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Frances, John and Leonard. Harold was a loving and loyal husband and father. His influence on his family and friends will always be remembered and talked about. He will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace with our Father in Heaven.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Nampa. A private burial will be held in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Nampa. Sent Flowers

Connie Wells-Badinger

May 4, 2018

I wish to send my heartfelt condolences to my Aunt Louise and family. Harold was a great man, husband, and father. I remember fond memories of visiting and having family get-togethers on Grandpa and Grandma Solo farm. Harold always seemed so happy and easy going. I enjoyed hearing his talks about his days in the Air Force. I will miss him very much. Heaven has another Angel. I'll see you on the other side. Rest in peace and God bless you Uncle Harold.
