Harold Herman Lester was 94 years old. It was his fervent wish to live in his home to the end. He was granted that wish, and on August 6, 2013, with family close by, died in his home in Nampa, Idaho of natural causes.
Harold was born June 10, 1919 in Nampa, Idaho, the only child of Sheila Foser Lester and William Leo Lester. He was born into a farming family and continued that tradition throughout his life. He was a lifelong resident of Nampa. He farmed the family land and provided custom combining and hay-baling to neighbors and friends for many years. He also worked at Boise Project Board of Control for 13 years.
In April 1935, he married Miriam E. Gundersen, also of Nampa. That marriage was blessed with four children: Marilee (Larry) Shoemaker, Ronald (Sallie) Lester, Cheri (Boyd) Schaffer and Terry (Tammi) Lester. Miriam and Harold were married 25 years and later divorced.
Harold married Lola Belle Haltom in October 1980. She had one child, Ted Lee Haltom of Nampa, from a previous marriage. Harold was a devoted husband and he and Lola Belle traveled after their retirements, yet life on the farm was his greatest and lifelong joy. They lived on Harold's family farm in Lone Star Community until his death. With his quick, wry humor, he had a ready arsenal of special quips to amuse everyone.
He is survived by all of his children and step-son, and five grandchildren: Tami (Terry) McGrew, Launa (Dan) Street, Stefanie (Kerry) Dick, Lindsey Lester, Lucas (Mary) Schaffer, and eight great-grandchildren: Monica (Keith) Rector, Casey McGrew, Sarah Toney, Gavin Schaffer, Lilley Dick, Isabell, Emma & Lucy Schaffer.

To honor his wishes, the graveside burial will be private to the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Shriner Hospitals for Children, c/o El Korah Temple, 1118 W. Idaho, Boise, Idaho 83702.
