Ida Goslin Obituary

Ida M. Gestrin Goslin Ida M. Gestrin Goslin, 86, died on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at her daughter's home in Emmett. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett. Visitation will be Monday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the Chapel. Burial will follow at the Emmett Cemetery. Ida was born on Feb. 18, 1921 at home near Arling, Idaho to Otto and Elena Gestrin. She graduated from Donnelly High School in 1938. After taking bookkeeping courses at Boise Business College she worked at the Merc in Cascade. She married T. Edwin Goslin on June 4, 1943. She joined Edwin in raising cattle and horses on ranches in Cascade, Ola and the Emmett areas. She was always proud of being a rancher's wife and a helpmate to him in everything. She greatly missed Edwin after his unexpected death in 1994. They were married for 51 years. Ida was a 50 year member of the Idaho Grange, the Emmett United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who always became involved in her children's and grandchildren's activities. Over the years these included: 4H, Boy Scouts, DeMolay, Job's Daughters, PTA, church youth group and any sport that her children played. She loved to knit, crochet or tat and filled many homes with her handiwork. Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; her son, Thomas; her grandson, Brian; her parents, two brothers and two sisters. She leaves behind three sons: Gordon and Carolyn of Cedar City, Utah; Dale and Sheila of Medford, Ore.; Keith and Debby of Emmett. Two daughters: Katrina and Larry Roberta of Tri-Cities, Wash.; and Margie and Clay Scofield of Emmett. One brother, Albert (Donna) Gestrin of Cascade; and one sister, Phyllis Houk-Roundy (Mike) of Ketchum. She had numerous grandchildren, step grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. James Thomson for all his years of care. The family asks that any memorials be made in her name to the Emmett United Methodist Church, The Lake Fork Finnish Church or a charity of your choice.
